1/10 Getting started with cold storage can be simple; striving for verification, privacy, & security can start to add layers of complexity.

A thread on beginner, intermediate, & advanced user guides I wrote on getting started with @COLDCARDwallet
2/10 These 3 guides start with the most basic steps and add additional precautions as they go along to address the unique needs for a range of users.

The beginner guide is called UltraQuick and can be found on the @COLDCARDwallet website here: coldcard.com/docs/ultra-qui…
3/10 UltraQuick covers checking the tamper-evident bag, setting up a PIN, generating seed words, & connecting to @SparrowWallet.
4/10 That is a good start but you may find at some point that you want to keep your @COLDCARDwallet air gapped and use your own node instead a public electrum server for your @SparrowWallet.

The MiddleGround guide covers these intermediate topics plus everything in UltraQuick.
5/10 The MiddleGround guide can be found on the @COLDCARDwallet website here: coldcard.com/docs/middle-gr…
6/10 MiddleGround also covers using some dice rolls in generating your seed phrase, air gapped communication with @SparrowWallet, and recommends stainless steel backups.
7/10 Now we're getting somewhere but you may not trust @COLDCARDwallet's TRNG, or the dice roll math, or the validity of the firmware and maybe you want to add a passphrase to your wallet and use your own private Electrum Rust Server for @SparrowWallet's backend.
8/10 The Paranoid guide covers these advanced topics and can be found on @COLDCARDwallet's website here: coldcard.com/docs/paranoid
9/10 Paranoid will equip you with the tools you need to "don't trust, verify". If verification, privacy, & security are goals of yours then this guide may help. If you're just starting out with self custody, start with small amounts of #bitcoin and practice, practice, practice.
10/10 As the concepts make more sense then move through the other guides. Don't let perfect be the enemy of good, it's important to just get started & make incremental steps toward improving your ability to guard your privacy & maintain permissionless control over your #bitcoin

7 months of continuous run time, even with a furnace-style filter in line. I'll probably start removing the fans & checking the boards every 90 days.
Decided to add a second ASIC using the existing infrastructure from the first install. Kept the enclosure pretty simple this time.
Even with a second ASIC, the noise levels are not much louder. The biggest difference right now is that I have the intake ducting disconnected because the air inside my house is cooler than outside. Right outside the door its only 55dB.
