The ZAR has depreciated 20% against the Thai Baht

The Thai baht depreciated 3.3% against the dollar.

The ZAR depreciated 23% against the dollar.

* The ZAR is depreciating at a quicker rate.

Why is this important?

In ZAR terms, one’s salary increases because of currency depreciation, if earning Thai baht.
(Relative to each other)

In dollar terms, both countries have gotten poorer, but South Africans have been worse off.

Food was by far the biggest expense in 2021, in fact, in all 4 years.
