1. Indian PM Modi was to address a rally at Ferozepur on Jan 5
2. It was his first visit to poll bound Punjab after withdrawal of 3 Farm laws in wake of year long #FarmersProtest
3. Many Farmers Unions had announced to stage protests at District headquarters

4. Protesting unions said they would protest to give a message that they are not satisfied with Modi as many of their demands are not fulfilled by his govt despite having given them written assurance.
5. On Jan 5, it was raining and cold wave.

6. Indian PM was to fly to Ferozepur in a helicopter.
7. As per media reports, he waited for some time at Bathinda and then it was decided that he will reach at rally spot by road.
8. Meanwhile a group of farmers of BKU (Krantikari) was heading towards Ferozepur DC office.

9. They were stopped by Punjab police as police suspected that they will try to go to rally ground and may try to demonstrate at rally venue.
10. BKU (Krantikari) leaders tried to convince police that they were not going to rally spot and were going to DC office instead.

11. Police did not believe them and told them that the police could not allow them to proceed towards Ferozepur.
12. After this BKU (K) Farmers started their dharna at the place where they were stopped.
13. As road was blocked, even BJP workers were also not able to move ahead.

14. This forced BJP workers to take to link roads to reach the rally.
15. Then police came to protesters and told them that Indian PM was coming on the same route so they should lift their dharna.
16. BKU (K) leaders thought that it was just a police tactic to get dharna lifted.

17. This time BKU (K) leaders did not believe police as earlier police did not believe BKU (K) leaders.
18. Meanwhile, it became clear that the rally was a total failure in terms of audience gathering.

19. Few hundred people were there in the pandal when former CM Amarinder Singh was addressing the rally.
20. Meanwhile Indian PM’s conclave reached near to the place where BKU (K) were staging dharna.
21. After waiting there for some minutes, they decided to move backwards.

22. After which ANI reported a statement said be uttered by Modi, which suggested that there was some kind of thread to his life.
23. Meanwhile, MHA of GoI issued a statement and said that there was security lapse due to which Indian PM’s rally was cancelled.

24. Then Godi media unleashed flood of propaganda against Punjab govt and people of Punjab.
25. Social media handles started calling out repeat of ‘1984’, (thus expressing intensity of genocidal impulse — observation).
