@Sheila4Congress responsibly challenged him in the Democratic primary, which Rep. Hastings won.
He also won the November 2020 General Election in this Democratic-dominated district.
I am satisfied that his constituents knowingly re-elected him.

Unfortunately, Rep. Hastings’ illness worsened and he passed away in early April 2021, less than 100 days into the term.
To be honest, this was no surprise.
Nor were this Governor’s anti-democratic, and anti-Democratic, tendencies, hidden.
4/
I was surprised by the complaints re the unusual delays in the Governor setting dates for the Special Election, especially as @BrowardVotes@votepalmbeach didn’t endorse standard dates used elsewhere in Florida:
Primary August 24, 2021
General November 2, 2021.
Simple

Re the #Florida legislative session, well, @browarddems@PBCDemParty had lots of candidates for a safe seat, and zero sense of duty or realistic assessment of one’s chances of winning.
The Governor is still un-democratic.
All the more reason for all to think strategically.
6/6
should have urged him not to seek re-election; maybe they did that.
He ran again, was re-nominated, and re-elected, and died within the first 100 days of his last term.
2/
#Florida knew that @GovRonDeSantis was a snake in Spring 2019, so his unconscionable delay in setting up the special election is unfortunately no surprise.
@BrowardVotes@votepalmbeach didn’t help; they should have gone with the standard August primary and November general.
3/
The right claims lots of voter fraud but actual examples are almost nonexistent,
The left insist that Photo ID disenfranchises voters, but media never interview actual examples: adult American citizens (by definition) without Photo ID.

Decades ago, Soviet Communism knew that they could not directly confront the United States and the West, and win, so they decided on an indirect approach.
They needed to make our national security professionals ineffective.
1/
@consulardude@LuisMorenolg@CDCgov So, they decided to infiltrate communist operatives into the US Government, not as spies to pass information, but in the support functions:
Personnel
Travel
Financial Management
Computers
Inspector General
Security
etc.
to totally constipate the support functions.
2/
@consulardude@LuisMorenolg@CDCgov This would force national security professionals to use more of their precious time - each of us only has 168 hours each week - to engage re internal support functions, and less re confronting our adversaries.
Recruit to develop a similarly unhelpful organizational culture.
