Had Shastriji lived for another five or ten years it is highly unlikely that Indira Gandhi would ever have become prime minister and it is

certain that her son would have never occupied that office.
Had LBS been given another five years on earth, there would have been no Nehru-Gandhi dynasty. Had Shastriji lived another five years, Sanjay and Rajiv would almost certainly have been still alive. Sanjay would have

been an entrepreneur & Rajiv Gandhi, retired pilot.
Finally, had Shastriji live another five years, Maino would still be a housewife and Rahul, a middle-level manager in a private sector company & Biyanka without Vadra.”

“Had Shastriji continued as prime minister until the end

of the 1960s, the economic history of India would have turned out very differently.
In speeches made in 1965, LBS clearly indicated that he would like to open up the market to enterprise and free competition. Sadly, he died soon afterwards. Instead of trusting to the energy of

the private sector, Indira Gandhi strengthened the control of the state over the economy.
Had fate given LBS longer innings as prime minister, the Indian economy could have been more robust and resilient, but he was also a pragmatic reformer.
He would have freed the processes of

production frm state control, also initiated welfare measures to ameliorate poverty. As a man of vision & integrity, he would've also sought to improve the performance of India’s public institutions.

So, the questions which arise are
1 Was he poisoned to make place for Indira?

2 Was he killed because he could’ve transformed Ailing India into Super power?
3 According to rumours, he met Netaji at Tashkent, did this incident cut short his life?
Kuldip Nayyar after death of Nehru said, they are appointing LBS to keep PM’s seat WARM for Indira, but LBS

turned out to be a Great Statesman, Leader & proved him wrong, but also lost his life.
On this day in 1966, the healthy and active prime minister of India passed away few hours after meeting his Pakistani counterpart.
In 2009, Congress govt in reply to an RTI said that,

“it possessed only one classified document relating to the former Prime Minister’s death and there was no record of any destruction or loss of any document related to the tragedy”.
It’s strange, isn’t it? The sudden death of the PM must have thrown the Indian Embassy in Moscow

in a tizzy. Ambassador Kaul must have scrambled to inform Delhi of the tragedy. A flurry of telephone calls and telegrams over the tragic development would have ensued for sure.
The ministry would have gone on an overdrive to find out the circumstances leading to the PM’s death

& ambassador must have sent minute by minute details.
The Soviets would have felt obliged to tell Indians about their handling of the matter too. And as the charges of foul play emerged, the government, through the MEA (also the IB, which was then responsible for foreign intel)

must have tried to get to the bottom of the story. How could the concerned division in the ministry have no records?
UNLESS THEY KNEW WHAT HAPPENED.

The MEA further stated that the only main record available with the Indian Embassy in Moscow was the report of the joint medical

investigation conducted by Dr Chugh & Soviet doctors. The ministry confirmed that no post mortem was carried out in Moscow and no post mortem was conducted in India either. WHY?
And again in July 2009, another RTI plea was filed for seeking copies of the entire correspondence

between the MEA and the embassy, and between the embassy and the Soviet foreign ministry over the issue.
In its belated response, the MEA refused to release the information, for doing so would “harm national interest” & even denied a copy of Dr Chugh’s report.
The needle of

suspicion is towards the Gandhi’s/Congress, as the key witness Dr Chugh, his wife and two sons were run over by a truck in 1977. Only his daughter survived—crippled.
There are those who link Shastri’s death to the mystery surrounding Subhas Bose’s disappearance. Jagdish Kodesia,

a former Delhi Congress chief and a confidant of Shastri, appeared before the Khosla Commission (formed to probe Netaji’s ‘death’) in March 1971 as a witness. Several times during his on-oath deposition, Kodesia stated that “Shastriji was one person” who did not believe in

Netaji’s death in a plane crash. “When he became Home Minister, he wanted to know the truth whether Subhas Bose was alive or not.” Kodesia felt that “after he became the PM…[Shastri] was emphatically working that there should be a fresh probe into Netaji’s disappearance”.

Kodesia’s words above, now part of a record preserved in the National Archives, are spine-chilling. This nation owes it to the memory of Lal Bahadur Shastri that all official records about his death, especially those held by our intelligence agencies, must be released in full.

And the disclosure must happen from Russian and Uzbekistan for sharing all that they know about the issue.
Lastly
In spite of his many achievements, Shastriji did not get his due either from the nation or from the Congress which he had served for his entire life.
