My best buddy, a lawyer in London, spoke to me today about the debacle. I’m surprised, she said, the Australian government did the right thing in regards to Djokovic. My answer:
hey are like Boris; they have no basis upon which they do the right thing; they always act according to political stuntism. Everything they do is for the wrong reasons. They are in there just to rip off the system of democracy for their own benefit.
So, if they ever do the right thing, it is to fix a mistake.
That was the case here. They issued him with a visa. They should have done the homework before issuing the visa & told him to get vaccinated or fuck off.
But they didn't do that. He thought all he had to do, when he got approval from Tennis Australia & from the State Government, was to make an unsubstantiated claim of some sort of medical reason for being unvaxed & there would be no problem.
But everyone knew why he was unvaxt. He had been telling everyone around the world for two years why he wasn't doing it.
The PM is prepared to accept any bit of shit as long as he can blame it on someone else. A pure Boris Trumpet.
He came out & said "He's coming to Australia but that's the Victorian government for you. They are the one's who issue the entry visa. We have to accept it." Pure hogwash.
While he was making this statement publicly, his Home Affairs minister, @karenandrewsmp, who wants his job, was looking up what should have happened, & didn't, because her bureaucrats issuing the visa failed to do theirs, and came out & said he's got to have evidence.
@karenandrewsmp If he doesn't have that evidence he won't be allowed in.
@karenandrewsmp Of course he didn't have any evidence to back it up; it was just a claim to get him across the border.
@karenandrewsmp The border police, built by her Hitler-like predecessor who is now running the defence forces, knew what to do because they had been doing it to asylum seekers & refugees for a decade. They threw him in with the refugees & watched the fight.
@karenandrewsmp There was no way Home Affairs were going to allow his entry because, if the court had ruled in his favour, it would call into question the refugees who have not committed any crime, just asked for entry on refugee status, being in detention for close to 10 years, being
@karenandrewsmp being treated against the UN Refugee Convention 1951.
@karenandrewsmp The rest, as they say, is history.
The Australian government simply ignores international humanitarian law... It’s a policy designed to isolate individuals, undermine their well-being and limit their ability to effectively put their case. @independentaus independentaustralia.net/politics/polit… #auspol #auspol2022 #auspoll

@vivchook Thanks, Vivienne. I have been waiting for the term furrow, as you can see, to come up since 1983. But it never does, until now, that is. Amazing how we have all accepted these numbers, just because the Mother Country told us to, without asking, Y? a symbol of our learned humility
@vivchook even the cricket never chirps, does it?
@vivchook And in answer to you #QandA, I think you may be onto something there. A furrow is certainly an agricultural #thread of the sixteenth century, which seems to be a long time before the only one to #Twitter were in the trees.

furrow #artwiculate's 220 yards; the distance you can drive a plough, pulled by an oxen, in a heavy soil, before he needed a rest. Then you turned him round & began another furrow. If you did that all day, the width of the furrows completed was 22 yards.
At the end of the day the area of th furrows was 22*220=4840 sq yards, commonly used to #artwiculate an acre. The oxen was tied up at night with a chain. To tie up th oxen at the end of th day, you had to go & get your chain. A chain is therefore 22 yards.the width of the furrows
To get from the town to new new furrows you had to stop to rest the oxen 8 times. This is 220 yards * 8 = 1760 linear yards which is used to #artwiculate 1 mile.
