When Democrats control the House and Senate, they allow their leadership and right-wing to savage and throttle and destroy any and all "progressive" legislation, while using the GOQP as a crutch and gaslighting the Left for "excessive expectations" and "purity".
Then, when the backlash results in the GOQP taking power and reinforcing the policies ConservaDems wanted anyway, Democrats scapegoat the Left for the former's losses to justify lurching further Right, all the while moaning about the Left's lack of loyalty and support.
And then, come the next election cycle, Democrats are all over the Left's spaces and social media streams, wailing at us that we MUST back "more and better Democrats" in order to defeat the TRUMPFASCISTS...all so that Democrats can continue the endless loop of screwing the Left.
Remember that it was Joe Biden and the Democrats themselves that seduced some "progressives" into voting for him with "the most progressive platform EVER" and his phony fireside chats with Bernie Sanders.
It was Biden who promised such things like #FightFor15, #CancelStudentDebt, a robust response to COVID, and $2K stimulus checks. He actually pretended to back these things and promised to fight hard for them.

The utter contempt that Democrats have for the Left is such that Biden can openly make these promises knowing fully well that he had the ConservaDems in position to block them.
That was what the "reconciliation" scam was all about: a temporary hook to keep the Left chained.

Democrats had no intention from the beginning (or EVER) to pass even $1.7T in social spending, even through reconciliation. That was just a ruse to strong-arm the "progressives" into passing the infrastructure pork bill.
Manchin's and Sinema's veto power in the Senate was well foreseen the second after Ossoff and Warnock won their primaries and gave Chuck Schumer the Majority Leader role. Biden's refusal to do anything about them showed his full tacit approval of them.

This was all totally predictable from the Democrats' act in 2009-2010, when they fakejaked a supermajority into the usual DLC corporatist agenda of bank bailouts and Rombamacare. Only difference was that Dems needed 10 assigned roleplaying villians instead of just 2.
And, actually, you could even go as far back as Bill Clinton's first term (1993-1994), when Hillary's promised "managed care" reform died in the coffers of John Breaux's and David Boren's roasting pits.

It's the same template they have used since the DLC/Third Way days: Sell the "centrism" as the "new liberalism" that wins elections; immediately tank any progressive legislation, then blame the Left for "purism"; tank the midterms to the Republicans; then nutpunch Left even more.
