It's also just as easy to yell "Get off that Big Guviment welfare drug and tighten your bootstraps!!!" when you are wealthy enough to USE the government to boost your own power and privilege at their expense and labor.
But remember....deficits matter, right?
You just gotta love people who talk smack about "Think of the CHILDREN!!!" when they oppose the very thought of using our government to address core issues of inequality and injustice.
Rather, they'd rather use government for things like withholding life-saving vaccines...
...from certain states simply to punish their people for not voting their way. Or, for having too much of the wrong people who just need to STFU and accept their lot as cattle and guinea pigs for the glory of the "freedom" to make the biggest profit there is.
So, the rest of us end up trapped in this crucible where the only choices we are given is to either accept the crumbs of the back end of the loaf of bread that the 1% stole from our bakery, or cheer the other side to get us.....the whole back slice of the loaf of bread.
Never mind the basic concept that perhaps The People have a right to not only get the whole damn loaf of bread, but also the bakery where it was made, the vehicles that delivered it, and the farms where the raw ingredients were produced.
Naaaahhhh, that's evil Communism.
What is far more preferable is for our overwealthy, and their duopoly minions paid to fluff them, i to divide and conquer the 70% of us working stiffs by herding us into clans divided by race, gender, sex orientation, religion, etc....
...and have them fight and kill each other for the right to gain access to those back end loaf crumbs.
And, if a privileged few of the "lower class" shows sufficient deferrence to the upper 15%, they may even get a couple of decent slices of the loaf to wave at the rest.
And then, those lucky enough to receive the slices can go to those down below them struggling just to get A crumb and scream at them: "See, if you work hard enough and play by the rules, you can get a piece of the pie like we have!! Stay strong and roll that grindstone, slaves!"
The greatest fear of the "liberals" who make up the only slightly less corrosive half of the duopoly managers is that we 80% at the bottom catch on to the game for what it is, stop the internal fighting, and get together to reclaim OUR rightfully earned loaf of bread.
It's also the fear of the other half -- the "conservatives" -- but they have enough honesty to know what the game is, and the iron will to defend their ill begotten gains with full violence and repression.
The "liberal" half, however, are more likely to sugarcoat their situation by using their own privilege to browbeat the poor (working or not) into submission. "How DARE you fight against the good system that feeds me....errrrr, feeds you? Trust me, it works!!! Just try harder!!!"
If that doesn't calm the lower 80% off, then the "liberals" simply team up with the "conservatives" to bring up the guns, ammo, nukes, warships, bombers, batons, water cannons, armed vehicles, drone bombs, private prisons, and anything else they can get their hands on.
The "liberals" & "conservatives" will jaw at each other countlessly over the degree of punishment us infidels should get for our apostasy. Torture or death by firing squad? Insane asylum or private prison plantation? "John school" or castration? Compliance lectures or beatdowns?
And if we refuse to break down and succumb to them, they can either buy the weakest and most gullible among us out with promises of glory and freedom for selling out, or simply torch the place with us inside and start afresh with a new batch of slaves and guinea pigs.
To put it succinctly, the battle for humanity and egalitarianism is not really the unctous groveling of "not Left versus Right, or Liberal versus Conservative".
It is not even "Right vs Wrong".
It's all about the Indy Left vs the Center/Right duopoly.
It's about Egalitarianism vs Social Darwinism.
Intelligence vs Propaganda.
Facts vs Bullshit.
Feminism vs Patriarchy.
Multiracial Humanity vs. White Supremacy AND "Diversity".
People's Democracy vs Plutocracy.
Shared Purpose vs. Greed.
Accountability vs. Hero Cult Worship.
Mutual Respect vs Tribal Warfare.
Mutual Consent vs Forced Compliance.
Body Autonomy vs Puritanism.
Social Solidarity vs Atomization.
Shared Struggle vs Gangsterism.
But, mostly,
SOCIALISM vs BARBARISM.
They may have all the weapons, the media, the money, the cops, the prisons, the propagandists, and everything else.
But we 80% have the one weapon they can't touch.
Solidarity in Ourselves.
With a little discipline & a lot of love, we can crush them & take OUR bread back.
And, don't let temporary losses and setbacks and sellouts get in the way of our ultimate victory.
You gotta step on some poop sometimes to get to the gold.
But, the victory is worth the battle.

He wouldn't even allow his Houston church complex be used as shelter for victims of Hurricane Harvey, but he gets $4.4 MILLION in PPP money? And, all TAX FREE because MAH RELIGIIOUS FREEDOM??
If there has ever been an event series that has so exposed the political system as irreformable and broken beyond repair, it is this COVID relief bill "debate".
One side (GOTP) cruel, heartless, and despicably arrogant.
The other side (Democrats) feckless, deceitful, and dense.
One side (GOTP) openly without shame advocates that people neither rich nor White should work themselves to death for free, or at least starve themselves, so that their wealthy donors can load up their portfolios and vaults with the goodies they stole from them.
The other side (Democrats) make rabid claims about how cruel and crude the Republicans are, but only exploit that just to dangle bells, whistles, and carrots in the faces of their marks...ahhh, I mean, constituents, only to snatch them away for their own political machines.
The POTUS election is actually 50 state elections, thanks to the Electoral College. The election is considered official when all 50 states certify their votes, then meet on December 14th to make them official. Congress certifying them is more an afterthough.
You. LOST. Deal.
Even if Pence does attempt to challenge the electors on January 6th, he would still need a majority of the House AND the Senate in order to invalidate the state's slate of electors....and I don't see either side joining in on this.
In fact....even if Pence by some miracle succeeds in getting the Senate to block the electors from the offending states (MI, PA, WI, AZ), the House is majority Democrat and won't go along....and then you get Acting President Pelosi (via 22nd Amendment succession).
I really do appreciate folks who tell me that we must forever settle for half-ass deals that will still never make it, just to allow "our side" to score political brownie points....while the majority of people are left to starve, suffer, and even die.
Some of y'allz are so dense that you don't understand that even if Pelosi accepts the Mnuchun/Trumpster deal, McConnell still won't introduce it to the Senate, and it won't even get enough votes to avoid a filibuster even if he did allow it to reach the Senate floor.
The GOTP Senate has already established that they will oppose without delay ANY stimulus payment, ANY UI payment above $300 without depressing conditions, and ANY bill not including their precious business liability shield or other right-wing poison pills.
Is there any information for transportation for those wishing to evacuate but who don't have the wherewithal or funds to do so?
I'm looking out not only for potential evacuees in SWLA, but also in the Lafayette/Opelousas/Eunice/Crowley area where hurricane-force wind gusts may occur.
Apparently there is no plan by the locals to provide transportation for those not able to evac on their own...or is there?
Most parishes under the gun do have either mandatory or voluntary evacuations, but the latter are only helpful for those with their own transportation. Those who don't have such are out of luck, especially since there will be NO local shelters open due to the COVID pandemic.
OK...it's been a good while since I've done a good tweetstorm, but since it now appears that the #HEROESAct will soon be passed as the second stimulus package, it's time to talk about the #HazardPay section and how it may affect those of us #EssentialWorkers.
1/many
As far as publicity is concerned, #HazardPay has been the stepsister in the basement, at least compared to the rollicking debates over the stim checks and the $600/week fed UI extension.
But, it actually may be the most impacting for #essentialworkers down the line.
2/
Until recently, it seems that not even the parties in DC now negotiating and fighting over the details of the stim package have given #HazardPay its due analysis. Nor has the media.
