The following tweet storm is me about to freak the hell out over my current leave situation and how it has gotten so screwed up so that I could potentially lose my job.
I didn't want to make it public, but I can't hold it back much longer. It's that bad.
Here's the context.
I have been on disability leave from my job the past 4 weeks due to a combination of stress-induced dizziness bouts and hypertension/hypoglycemia.
I was originally scheduled to return to work after the first week of January; but when I went to my health care provider on the 3rd to finalize the paperwork to return, I had another bout of dizziness and fainting at the doctor's office.
The doc treating me immediately told me to avoid work for another 2 weeks, along with adjusting my medication, which he said was causing much of my dizzy episodes. He gave me an additional 2 week excuse from work, pending another follow-up appointment to check my progress.
The company that processes employee leaves for my job had originally set my disability pay to be terminated on January 3rd, but my actual leave was planned to be extended to February 24th.
Fair enough, I thought; that would give me enough time to make progress.
I sent the updated paperwork to the processing company for my leave on the 14th, with a full notation that I would get full approval to return to work on the 23rd through a Return to Work verification form. I have to have that form in order to officially be cleared to work.
I also figured that the processing company would approve of extending my disability pay beyond the 3rd to at least the 18th, to cover my extended absence.
Well, wouldn't you know it, the company responded yesterday: and not only did they NOT extend my disability pay period; they truncated the date of my leave ending to January 20th.
This creates a HUGE problem for me, in many ways:
First, because I didn't get paid for the days out since 1/3, my paycheck for my last pay period is once again reduced to near nothing.
I used up the balance of my PTO in covering the days prior to getting my leave processed, so I can't tap into that anymore to cover my bills.
Though, with what I do have, I will barely be able to cover my rent for the last two weeks.
That'll be a pain, but manageable for now.
But that brings on the worse part:
I still must have the paperwork processed for my return to work, and the doctor's office charges $40 per page for the process; plus, it takes them 1 to 2 weeks for them to complete the process and send the completed form back to me.
Since my leave is scheduled to end on the 20th, that means there will be a lag between my leave officially ending and when I will get the form I need to return to work.
And with every day I am out, that will be charged an occurrence against me, and that could cost me my job.
That is, every day after the leave officially ends would count as an unexcused absence, even though I still would need the completed paperwork approval from my doctor via the Return to Work form in order to return to work.
Now do you see why I am absolutely freaking out?
I am communicating with the processing company to clarify all this, but in the meantime, I am seriously fearful that this screwup and miscommunication could cost me a job I've held for 20 years.
This is unbelievable BS nonsense.
I don't know whether I should start putting out applications now for other jobs, or whether I should wait to see what transpires, or even if I'm just facing the inevitable.
Frankly, I'm kind of scared. Really.
In any case, this leaves me no choice but to re-open the Tip Jar and once again ask your kindness and indulgence for assistance.
This time, I have no set number as a goal; I'll accept whatever you have.
Same sites apply as before.

This is the kind of myopia from loyalist Democrats who have no sense of distinguishing talking points from actual reality.
Let us go down the line one by one and refute this.
1/
1) Universal Healthcare
GOQP: "Personal responsibility" and privatized system w/ vouchers & full freedom of price gouging for Big Insura/Big Pharma
Democrats: Partially privatized, publicly subsidized system via Rombamacare, price gouging tempered by subsidies
2/
2) Gun Reform:
GOQP: GUNZ FOR EVERYONE (except poor Blacks, can't have them defend themselves against killer cops)
Democrats: Ban assault weapons for anyone other than military, keep gunz out of "crazy people's" hands; indifferent otherwise unless shooter event occurs
3/
When Democrats control the House and Senate, they allow their leadership and right-wing to savage and throttle and destroy any and all "progressive" legislation, while using the GOQP as a crutch and gaslighting the Left for "excessive expectations" and "purity".
Then, when the backlash results in the GOQP taking power and reinforcing the policies ConservaDems wanted anyway, Democrats scapegoat the Left for the former's losses to justify lurching further Right, all the while moaning about the Left's lack of loyalty and support.
And then, come the next election cycle, Democrats are all over the Left's spaces and social media streams, wailing at us that we MUST back "more and better Democrats" in order to defeat the TRUMPFASCISTS...all so that Democrats can continue the endless loop of screwing the Left.
He wouldn't even allow his Houston church complex be used as shelter for victims of Hurricane Harvey, but he gets $4.4 MILLION in PPP money? And, all TAX FREE because MAH RELIGIIOUS FREEDOM??
It's also just as easy to yell "Get off that Big Guviment welfare drug and tighten your bootstraps!!!" when you are wealthy enough to USE the government to boost your own power and privilege at their expense and labor.
But remember....deficits matter, right?
You just gotta love people who talk smack about "Think of the CHILDREN!!!" when they oppose the very thought of using our government to address core issues of inequality and injustice.
Rather, they'd rather use government for things like withholding life-saving vaccines...
...from certain states simply to punish their people for not voting their way. Or, for having too much of the wrong people who just need to STFU and accept their lot as cattle and guinea pigs for the glory of the "freedom" to make the biggest profit there is.
If there has ever been an event series that has so exposed the political system as irreformable and broken beyond repair, it is this COVID relief bill "debate".
One side (GOTP) cruel, heartless, and despicably arrogant.
The other side (Democrats) feckless, deceitful, and dense.
One side (GOTP) openly without shame advocates that people neither rich nor White should work themselves to death for free, or at least starve themselves, so that their wealthy donors can load up their portfolios and vaults with the goodies they stole from them.
The other side (Democrats) make rabid claims about how cruel and crude the Republicans are, but only exploit that just to dangle bells, whistles, and carrots in the faces of their marks...ahhh, I mean, constituents, only to snatch them away for their own political machines.
The POTUS election is actually 50 state elections, thanks to the Electoral College. The election is considered official when all 50 states certify their votes, then meet on December 14th to make them official. Congress certifying them is more an afterthough.
You. LOST. Deal.
Even if Pence does attempt to challenge the electors on January 6th, he would still need a majority of the House AND the Senate in order to invalidate the state's slate of electors....and I don't see either side joining in on this.
In fact....even if Pence by some miracle succeeds in getting the Senate to block the electors from the offending states (MI, PA, WI, AZ), the House is majority Democrat and won't go along....and then you get Acting President Pelosi (via 22nd Amendment succession).
