Hi - quite the heart-warming story! Really well done. Below is a slightly different take on it.

But I have yet a different take - I am pitching a follow-up piece where you could do a lot of good.
In your story, there were a couple of shots that immediately caught my eye.

Shots which show that the IPC practices were based on the idea that CoVid is not airborne.

Surgical masks in the ambulance, and the wide shot showing roughly 6 feet of separation.

But #CoVidIsAirborne.
For airborne diseases, the minimum PPE are N95's.

Don't listen to me or the fact that Biden is getting N95's to all regular Americans.

Listen to the @WHO and @OSHA_DOL.

In your piece, you indicated volunteers are quitting because of age and being scared.

Absolutely.

And they should be scared.

Surgical masks do NOT sufficiently protect you from airborne.

Why are EMT's getting tore up from the floor up?
There are no standards for ventilation/filtration in ambulances.

To keep the ambulance warm? We all know they are turning on the recirculating air.

Even if they had excellent ventilation? Up close aerosols called near field
aerosols will be inhaled too quickly for the ventilation/ filtration to clean the air.

And those EMT's are spending longer and longer with the CoVid+ as the hospitals are slammed.

Some may protest - the CDC recommends N95's! Sure they do. But 👇

HCW's are people, too. They are subject to peer pressure - and that's where mandates help.

They immediately put peer pressure on everyone to do the required thing.

Rather than the hero thing (tough guys don't need N95's!) like HCW's are known for.

Does one size fit all?
No.

The CDC should mandate N95's for all HCW's minimum, in all areas of the hospital. It's airborne.

And they should mandate N100 elastomeric respirators for anyone who does CPR.

What are elastomeric respirators? See the RT below.

My DM's are open for any questions or follow-ups.

@PPEtoheros, Executive Director with the AMMA, has also urged the same type of approach.

Thank you again for the piece!
I have a huge account that follows me that I owe a H/T on this.

But my feed is just getting slaughtered, right now.

You know who you are - hit me up, and I will H/T you!
H/T to @davenewworld_2 for the lead-in tweet on this thread about high-schools student in surgical masks.

Not making this up...working as EMT's in ambulances which are horribly ventilated steel boxes in unregulated America.

We, all, are the #corsirosenthalbox community come to life.

We all share the common interest of having clean lungs - and not catching CoVid.

This is a 🧵of homes in which one person unfortunately brought CoVid back.

But homes where no one else caught it.
Please @ me if I didn't catch your story when I was meandering the halls of Twitter, and you want to be in this 🧵.

As @JimRosenthal4 always says, and I have seen @CorsIAQ agree with.

"We are not helpless!"

Worried about your glasses fogging up when you wear your N95 or ASTM-2 surgical mask with your @FixTheMask?

Got 2 minutes and 39 seconds?

@masknerd is just crushing it with these new Mask Nerd Short videos!

(I subscribed....)

To review...

If they fog up a bit after you breathe out, but NOT IMMEDIATELY, that's probably your hot air being caught by the mask. And then diffusing through the mask and rising up over the glasses - fogging them up.

But still worried?
How much is your peace of mind worth?

$100? $200?

And Walensky is doing things willy-nilly over at the CDC.

#5days4Corporations

@CDCgov @CDCDirector

With the 5 day isolation boondoggle, you are literally:

✅increasing the chances of a catastrophic variant.
causing the virus to spread farther

✅exponentially increasing the #of LongCoVid.

✅killing Americans with your decision.
Scientifically, we KNOW that 5 days is too short.
From even a short-term economic perspective, we know that 5 days makes no sense.

Please congratulate Professor Zulfiqar A. Bhutta and the Research Team - includes Aatekah Owais (SickKids),
James Wright (SickKids)

For writing a polemic worthy of being brandished by every GBD afficionado out there.
Who needs Public Enemy #1 when we have public health organizations such as yourself failing Public health 101?

Communications are key.

You did not write the report keeping in mind that your enemy, @DrJBhattacharya and others of his ilk will be looking to weaponized your words
Why not add to the introduction..."these lockdowns did have direct and indirect impacts, but were necessary to stop the exponential growth and associated death and hospitalization of millions of people."

Simple....and would help us public health advocates help YOU.

Back before #COVIDisAirborne became a Tongan eruption pressure wave of voices raised around the 🌍?
The medical field used to believe only aerosols smaller than 5 microns floated.

There was a simple tweet that changed more minds than all others.

Seeing is believing.

50 micron aerosols floating:
Now, an equally powerful message from Ryan and his collaborators.

It will help overcome the recent new study proclaiming incorrectly that SARS-COV-2 loses 90% of its infectivity in 20 minutes.
