Bob Ney: 60 Minutes asked me [before taping] about Boehner & stocks; I told them my reaction was something should be done about it. 60 Minutes eventually did a story on it, incl Boehner & Pelosi. There was some heat & then it went away.

Bob Ney: People don't know what the bill needs to incl to have a non-conflict clause but they know something needs to be done.
Rick: Look what happened in GA before the pandemic where two people came out of a mtg & dropped their stock. They knew something bad was coming

Bob Ney: I got in trouble over a golf trip with Abramoff. Nowadays people are going on trips paid by other groups.
Rick: Congress needs to straighten up the House.

Bob Ney: Redefining the ethics process would also help clarify matters. Members should be able to file the trip & then Ethics says yes or no. Or, just ban any privately-paid trip. That would incl lobbyist groups.

Bob Ney: (con't) Also the involvement by members of Congress with foreign liaisons & agents. Exective-level staff cannot be excluded from this, either.

Bob Ney: I think Putin does not want to invade Ukraine. It's always about the exit plan. He's playing an aggressive game to get what he wants without invading.

Bob Ney: Right now the President isn't deploying troops but he has them on standby. Putin knows there's no will. It's a bluff game. Europe's dependent--they don't have the energy ability that we have, especially Germany--they need Russia.

Rick: I say we should not send our troops to Ukraine.
Bob: Having the troops on standby is different from actually sending them over there.
