Just watched #LicoricePizza!
Beautiful, odd confused love story, with the most aleatory cameos you would ever expect. Another “Hollywood celebrates Hollywood” kinda film.
As a 70s sucker, I loved the vibes, fantastic soundtrack, spectacular job from costume + H&M.
The TRUCK! 1/4
Actress #AlanaHaim is literally a rainbow that fills the big screen with such a different, cinematic beauty & aura. Everytime her face’s in closeup on #LicoricePizza, it’s really magical, classic Hollywood. Director & cinematographer knew how to make the most of her presence. 2/4
I was blown away that both leads #AlanaHaim & #CooperHoffman were making their film debuts on this. So talented, and brought that freshness at same time.
Funny enough, for some reason Cooper reminded me of #MichaelGandolfini as Tony in #TheManySaintsOfNewark all the time. 3/4
Editing + the way they play with steady camera all the time in #LicoricePizza is just so flawless & fluid, all the running scenes are delightful to see.
Loved the vibrant, bucolic color palette used throughout the film.
I can see why it’s getting so much love from the Guilds. 4/4

But the data provided by #Antenna to the #WSJ also revealed an inconvenient truth: The Phantom menace of Churn is real. Almost 50% or more of the original subscribers of movies like #WW84 and #Hamilton are gone after 6 months in a streaming service. 2/7
The data provided by #Antenna also show how big series such as #Netflix#BigMouth or #Hulu’s #HandmaidsTale although not attracting as many subscriptions as big films, do a slightly better job in retaining most of subscribers attracted during weekend of release for longer. 3/7
Just watched #BlackWidow and I must say, it is SO MUCH BETTER than I thought it would be.
Trailers didn’t do this film justice. I had a such great time watching it.
I’ve never seen an almost entirely women led film with so much cool action. But also lots of emotional stuff. 1/6
It’s so funny that #BlackWidow ironically is the immediate release after #F9, as this one is all about the importance of family as well, for good or bad. And Family is literally the best part of BW. I loved the dynamics between all characters (the trailers sold it so poorly) 2/6
The opening sequence is emotional and wonderful. Loved the children.
1st 2 acts are wonderful. I LOVED them.
But, as in 2017 #WonderWoman, the weakest part of #BlackWidow is the 3rd act. It didn’t bother me that much, but you can clearly see the discrepancy, which is a shame. 3/6
Layoffs at #DCComics & #DCUniverse shouldn’t be a surprise. It’s a process that has been cooking for months now. Who paid attention saw that coming. Important to say: fired executives from DC won’t be replaced for new ones. Others in the company’ll accumulate their functions. 1/4
This is all part of #JasonKilar’s efforts to simplify the structure of Warner as a whole, in order to put #HBOMax as the center of the company and DC brand as its main fuel, and to bring more efficiency doing more with less and quickly + obviously cutting costs in this crisis.2/4
Also, although the trades are bringing it up only now as it was part of the restructuring, #JimLee has actually been overseeing all #DC related stuff in all divisions of the company since 2019, as Chief Creative Officer. He is just getting more work to do after the layoffs. 3/4
In this interview, Mr. Emmerich says that WB’s takeaway from #Aquaman success is returning to the original #DCEU plan: one movie at time more focused on its director creative vision, and less focused in a shared universe plan. No, he didn’t say the shared universe is over. PT1/4
What he did meant is that, in their shared universe, the movie and director individualities come first from now onwards, differing from MCU shared universe, where movies and directors are only team players focused in a shared plan over their own creativity. PT2/4
That was the original plan when the DCEU was announced, but quickly forgotten when WB executives wanted to implement Marvel model plan after it had already started, originating the chaos we all know, with directors quitting, being fired and projects cancelled/badly changed. PT3/4
