[2/?] RULE # 1: If you have #NFTs, or even ONE single NFT that you would be devastated to lose, in a #MetaMask hot wallet (a hot wallet is any wallet that connects to the internet), then you SHOULD HAVE A HARDWARE (COLD) WALLET. There are many brands of these available… 🧵

[4/?] hardware wallet yet, or if you’re just on the cusp of “needing” one in terms of your NFT collection value, or if you are the type that likes to buy and flip a lot, and so cold storage is not ideal, then AT THE VERY LEAST you should have a secondary MetaMask wallet with… 🧵

[5/?] a DIFFERENT SEED PHRASE from your main wallet, and that wallet should NEVER be used to interact with any websites EVER. If done properly, this method should actually be nearly as secure as a hardware wallet. 🧵

[6/?] RULE # 2: SORRY FOR ALLCAPS BUT IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE INTERACTING WITH A WEBSITE USING YOUR METAMASK BROWSER, ALWAYS REACH THE WEBSITE FROM THE OFFICIAL LINKS SECTION OF THE PROJECT’S TWITTER OR DISCORD. CHECK AND DOUBLE CHECK THE URL BEFORE CONNECTING WALLET. 🧵

[7/?] Do not rely on #google searches, which can be manipulated by savvy scammers using #SEO tactics, & the same goes for shopping for #NFTs on @opensea or any other marketplace — use only the OS links on their @Twitter / @discord and you won’t get scammed by fake collections. 🧵

[8/?] In @isaidelgoley case, he visited this spoof site looksarare DOT org (do not visit) which was an exact copy of the @looksrare site that came up first on a #google search. Either using link from their official @Twitter or double checking URL before connecting could have 🧵

[9/?] saved him. It’s easy to get complacent, but we need to be vigilant every day because we have chosen to BE OUR OWN BANK! 🏦 🧵…

[10/?] RULE # 3: Whenever you are connecting a wallet to your @MetaMask, imagine you are asking a couple Q’s to a guy entering your bank vault, where you keep all your valuables. When you see a popup on your wallet, that shows exactly what PERMISSIONS the site is seeking from…🧵

[11/?] your wallet. If a site says it needs to do anything more than just look, most of the time, that’s not a good sign, unless you are 100% sure you’re on a trusted site like @Uniswap or @opensea. We know NFTs move a mile a minute, but take 10 secs to read before you approve!

[12/?] RULE # 4: Keep your DMs off on @discord and if accepting a DM from anyone on Discord or @Twitter, ALWAYS BE SKEPTICAL. Even if their name seems to be one you can trust, keep your guard up in case they ask you to do something that sounds suspect. …🧵

[13/?] NEVER GIVE ANYONE THE SEED PHRASE TO YOUR WALLET (& while we’re at it, never type this phrase into ANY browser EVER. Only into Metamask itself when restoring wallet. Do not keep this Seed phrase in google docs or in notepad on your phone that is synced with the cloud... 🧵

[14/?] …Write it on paper and put its somewhere very safe.) NEVER SHARE YOUR SCREEN FOR ANY REASON WITH SOMEONE YOU DO NOT KNOW, AND IF YOU HAVE TO SHARE SCREEN, NEVER INTERACT WITH YOUR WALLET on screen, or you could accidentally expose your seed phrase in the preferences! 🧵

[15/?] RULE # 5: Never make deals with any one to trade NFTs for #ETH unless you trust that person with your life or are otherwise prepared to get nothing back when you send your #NFT. You can do a private listing on Opensea set for that wallet in the event of a private… 🧵

[16/?] sale, or there are sites like @swapkiwi that will safely facilitate a swap. Another member of our #NounPunks community got #scammed this way a month ago and we made him whole with a new NounPunk, but want to community to be vigilant going forward! 🧵
