Ottawa Police
Weekend Demonstrations
Sunday Jan. 30 8:00 am
Overnight, officers encountered several challenges with demonstrators, including sporadic road blockages by trucks which officers worked to clear. These high-risk situations were de-escalated & resolved with no arrests
'We continue to have a very large police presence today at all large demonstration locations. Please follow the directions of the police, emergency responders and City officials.'
'National monuments will be protected and should be respected by all. Barricades are installed to block any vehicular access to the path in front of the National War Memorial.'
'Do not travel to the downtown core. For residents and businesses in the core, police are working to mitigate the impacts of the demonstration, such as gridlock and parked vehicles. We thank residents and business owners for their patience.'

'There were reports of denial of service—injuries and trauma-related directly to the demonstration. I can tell you that is not true.'
'We have verification from ambulance services, fire services and police services that while they were delays in responses and, in some instances, gaps in services delivery, nobody was directly affected regarding ambulatory service requirements or emergency services requirements.'

Federal Auditor General criticizes pandemic border measures enforcement, other COVID-19 responses: Federal government failed to adequately enforce border measures designed to keep international travellers from importing cases of COVID-19. toronto.citynews.ca/2021/12/09/aud… #cdnpoli
'Public Health Agency of Canada only had records to verify 25% of mandatory quarantine-hotel stays ... The government had no idea what became of 59% of travellers suspected of flouting quarantine orders, after the agency referred their suspicions to law enforcement.'
'The auditor had scathing words about the inspections intended to ensure agricultural producers are properly protecting migrant workers from COVID-19, following numerous outbreaks among temporary foreign workers at farms since the start of the pandemic.'
