Finally, after 28 games played in #TotalEnergiesAFCON2021 we have reached the semi-final stage of the competition.
4 countries left, 4 teams, around 100 players left to choose for your #afconfantasy team, down from around 672 at the start of tournament
🔷Teams & Schedule
Feb 2nd 20:00
Burkina Faso🇧🇫 - 🇸🇳 Senegal
Feb 3rd 20:00
Cameroon🇨🇲 - 🇪🇬 Egypt
🔷Burkina Faso🇧🇫 - 🇸🇳 Senegal
One of surprises of the tournament, 🇧🇫has done so by keeping it very tight at the back, conceding only 1 goal from open play.
🇸🇳has one of the best defensive stats so far, conceding their 1st goal in the QF, while continuing to improve in attack.
🔷Cameroon🇨🇲 - 🇪🇬 Egypt
🇨🇲continues to be the highest scoring team, while having the easiest game they've had in the QF in terms of defensive stats.
🇪🇬has only conceded 1 goal from open play so far, although the stats also reveal that they've been lucky too.
🔷Rules
In the semifinals we are allowed to have 8 players from the same team, while having 8 free transfers to use.
And now we don't have to worry about eliminated teams as the teams that lose in the SF will battle for 3rd place and that game will also count for fantasy.
🔷Burkina Faso🇧🇫
I think we have to be thankful they've reached the SF as we can use their players as budget enablers or punts. Good prices, while also having decent points total despite no player with 30+ points (other teams with at least 2 players).
🔷🇧🇫🎯(in the order of preference)
GK
Koffi
DF
Dayo (if healthy, might be on pen)
Yago
I. Kaboré
E. Tapsoba
S. Ouattara (if Dayo can't play)
MF
B. Traoré
Sangare
Blati Touré
B. Cyrille
H. Bandé
FW
O. Djibril (unsure he will start)
🔷Senegal🇸🇳
The main source of CS this tournament, not crazy to see 7 defenders in the top 10 most points for 🇸🇳, despite P.A. Cissé and Mbaye only starting 2 games when Koulibaly & Ciss were out with covid.
I do think that 🇸🇳is growing and improving and will be better in SF.
🔷🇸🇳🎯(in the order of preference)
GK
Mendy
DF
B. Sarr
Ciss
Kouyaté
Koulibaly
Diallo
MF
Mané
Ismaïla Sarr
N. Mendy
Gana
FW
Diédhiou
B. Dia
🔷Cameroon🇨🇲
Team with the most goals scored is also with the best forward duo in the tournament. Aboubakar and Toko Ekambi are accounted for all goals for 🇨🇲. The defenders are harder to target too because they've only had 1 CS so far.
With King Salah in the team, we always knew that 🇪🇬 has a chance in this tournament. They have been unlucky with injuries (3 GK's have already played) and will play in SF without arguably their best defender, Hegazi.
🔷🇪🇬🎯
GK (not sure who will start)
Gabaski (says he'll be ready)
M. Elshenawy (#1 GK)
M. Sobhy (if 1&2 can't play)
DF
Kamal
Abdelmoneim
Fetouh
Ashraf
Hamdy (if healthy)
MF
Salah
Souila
Trézéguet
Elneny
FW
Marmoush
Mohamed
🔷Wildcard v1
1st draft if I was on a wildcard (109.0 million).
💰0.1 itb.
- Going with 1 GK sure to play.
- Downgrading Diedhiou or Hongla can give me Ismaila Sarr for Moumi.
- I can differentiate DF with getting BFA DF's.
🔷Wildcard v2
2nd draft if I was on a wildcard (109.0 million).
💰0.1 itb.
- Going with 2 playing GK's, you can wait for more news which Egypt GK will start.
- Sell Onana for that Egypt GK and then upgrade Dayo to Kouyate if you want, or Soulia to Hongla, or Moumi to Sarr.
Day 1:
Mané
Alternatives: B Sarr ; Diédhiou
Punts: I Sarr ; Ciss ; Traoré
Day 2:
Aboubakar / Salah
Alternatives: Toko Ekambi
Punts: Moumi ; Mohamed ; Marmoush
🔷CONCLUSION
Now you already have a good picture which players are must-haves, budget enablers, differentials & punts for the last 2 rounds, a strategy to gain points might be to get 1-2 differentials and make a good captaincy pick.
Thanks to @TipstersFantasy for the wonderful opportunity to write for your website.

🧵After the 24 teams have battled it out in the group stage, now we are entering the next round. I will do a short preview of the knockout stage & just like for previous GW'2, give you some differential picks.
With the results of #GW2 coming in these coming days, let's see what kind of strategy we are looking at for the teams in #GW3 and which teams we want to target for the last games of the group stage.
[1]
Group A
Cape Verde🇨🇻 - Cameroon🇨🇲
To avoid being 3rd in group, 🇨🇻 must win.
For 🇨🇲 a draw is enough to win group.
I can see🇨🇲 still fielding the best team although depending on how the game goes, they will play it safe in the end. If🇨🇻 then 🇨🇲 will become 2nd.
[2]
Burkina Faso🇧🇫- Ethiopia🇪🇹
Will become a lively game as both teams will want to win the game.
If 🇪🇹win they can still be 3rd. They can't be 2nd because they lost from🇨🇻 in GW1.
🇧🇫can't be 1st as they lost from 🇨🇲 earlier.
My preference is to wildcard in GW2, so that I can attack the good matchups in GW1 , have more info about lineups and performance for GW2, and to avoid some rotations on teams that have already qualified or won the group.
In this thread I will give you some good options per position you can choose according to your budget for your team.
Also players with🥇GW2 matchup that you can sell in GW3.
Based on matchups in FIFA rankings in GW 2 & 3, I've categorized the teams I want in 3 groups:
