I found out about this project couple of weeks ago when I was scrolling through @pierskicks & @Delphi_Digital tweets. I went to NOR's website. I got interested.
And yesterday CEO of NOR came up with a podcast episode, which blew my mind.
I'll tell you why.
CONTENT:
1. Brooks Brown, the CEO 2. Consortium, the company 3. What is Art? 4. The Magic Circle ⭕️ 5. #P2W, #F2P & #P2E 6. #NFTs & Markets 7. NOR 8. Conclusions
"Discover your ancestry, reclaim your future."

CEO
Brooks Brown has more than 18 years of creative and strategic development in interactive content for the world’s most successful brands and franchises, including Lucasfilm, Lucasarts, Lightstorm Entertainment, Universal Pictures, and James Cameron’s AVATAR quadrilogy.
They are building a Gaming Platform, which is Built for Players:
We’re here to define the future of entertainment. To deconstruct the current state of play and reconstruct it for a decentralized world.
Creativity, development, financing—each reimagined and rebuilt to make the world way more entertaining. We call it PlayFi, and it’s going to be great.
"The Next Era of Play."

What is Art?
I'm not an art guy, but Brooks gave an exceptionally interesting perspective to that:
Art is not just the image, it’s the experience, and there are always two sides (or artists): The one who painted it, and the one who sees it.
Paintings give canvas to us, and so do Games. Canvas in video games is constructed from three parts:
1. Mechanics 2. Dynamics 3. Aesthetics (the feel)
4/8
The Magic Circle = Canvas in video games. ⭕️
Inside is for play, outside is for the real world.
This is the space, where we can, for example, explore, create, and experience.
In good games, we get to the Flow state. This is the state where challenge meets skills.
Flow state is the "top-level", the feeling when there is enough of a challenge that meets your skills.
5/8
Games should be skill-based. I "hate" Play-to-Win (#P2W) games. These guys do so too.
Nobody wants to buy games, that's why Free-to-Play (#F2P) is here. For example, League of Legends – is one of the most played games at the moment. You can buy a skin, but not skills.
F2P is the way to go. You can have fun without paying, but you can get a little extra to your experience by paying.
But how about if you get paid by playing? That would be awesome. And we are getting there with Play-to-Earn (#P2E).
6/8
#NFTs: There is no such thing as an original JPEG; they are technically decoded lines. Copies. NFTs are not art or items. Still, they have permanence and reality in space and time. They have value.
We can own them and sell them.
In this project, NFT = Player.
Everyone who interacts with NOR is NFT.
Two types of separated Magic Circles ⭕️ 1. The Market 2. The Games
The Market
This is their own circle for the "whales", who want to use money:
- Lands
- NFTs
- Buy and Stake tokens
- Destroy other people on the marketplace
The Game
This is the free version.
The Players Play the Game.
So, NFTs are the players. Everyone is Unique and is fully controlled by the player.
Player risk? Permadeath. 💀
Death is forever and your NFT will be burned if you die.
"We’re here to give players a world of their own, where they can feel the rush of real risk once again."
7/8
NOR (@Welcome_to_Nor) is a platform for play. It’s a fully-realized universe with its own history, its own future, its own economy, and its own natural laws. This is where players compete for coin and glory—and where death truly matters.
"We’re here to bring back everything that made games fun in the first place. To do away with pay-to-win, play-to-earn, and all the other ways the gaming industry has stripped the fun from play. We’re here to create the world in which we ourselves want to play."
"We’re here to bring back everything that made games fun in the first place. To do away with pay-to-win, play-to-earn, and all the other ways the gaming industry has stripped the fun from play." ⭕️
We’ve designed it so money can’t enter the actual gameplay.
"Our Arena games are 100% free, and players cannot purchase any unfair advantage. Ever."
– A couple of sentences from their Website.
Go ahead, take a further look.
If you are a gamer, do yourself a favor and watch the @Delphi_Digital podcast episode with Brooks Brown (watch do not just listen).
The storytelling is on another level.
Why am I excited?
My gaming background is in WoW and LoL. I'm very competitive, and all this to me sounds too good to be true. I love the feel of risk and possibilities. I'm here to find the Next BIG Game, which I want to be a part of and NOR might be it.
You can count me in for both sides, the Market and the Game. I'm willing to learn and eventually risk it if needed for rewards.
"Immortality awaits." 💀
