Mini rant: My son was at the rec centre yesterday enjoying some pool time. In the rec centre he has to wear a mask. When he left, just because he didn't really think about it, he kept the mask on. Sometimes kids do that stuff. #yyc 1/

Yesterday, like in other areas, there was a so-called freedom convoy going through Okotoks, honking horns, waving flags, yadda yadda.

I'm just finding out today that one of the so-called freedom folks screamed at my 9-y-o to take off his mask. Startled, he did. 2/

At what point do his freedoms end and these so-called freedom fighters begin? The audacity to yell at a 9-y-o about his masks, that was kept on primarily because he was exiting a facility that required it.

Even if we wanted to keep it on, so the f what? He's FREE to do that. 3/

That's the point being missed in all this, and the irony of it all. In all this so-called freedom convoy BS, whose rights are being trampled? The rights of the majority, that's who.

Want to convoy? Fine. Want to demonstrate? Fine. 4/

When you start to impact the rights of others, go away. When you bully or intimidate a child... now you get dad to deal with.

I didn't really want to share my thoughts on this selfish band of people because I keep an open mind. 5/

But this is how people view this so-called freedom convoy stuff. A bunch of thugs whipped into a frenzy feeling like they can harass a kid. That sums up all you need to know about these folks. 6/

And even that isn't you... these are the folks you're enabling with your so-called freedom convoys.

That's why people generally think it's trash and want it to end. It's because of that awful element of fear and harassment that's entrenched in this movement. end/
