Holy moly! I think I’ve gained over 300 followers in the last 3 days.

Welcome aboard folks.

I notice quite a few are American. I comment on American issues from time to time. But I’m focussed on Canadian politics mostly.

Occasionally I swear and have hissy fits.

This is stressful and generally unappreciated effort.

For people looking for answers, I don’t have any for what comes next.

That depends on what we as citizens who prefer democracy are willing to do.

I offer this parable as inspiration. Every effort makes a difference.

One person’s effort makes a small impact. But collectively, we can keep democracy alive.

So get out there and start throwing starfish back in the ocean. (Educate everyone you can about what is happening).

Starfish that want to die in the baking sun are not worth the effort.

Focus on those who are afraid and immobilized. Help them quell their panic and reclaim hope to start educating other starfish.

Stay calm. Panic helps no one. In fact that’s what the orchestrators of this mess want. For you to panic.

Critical thinking is extremely compromised when you’re deeply engaged in strong emotions, like panic, rage and disgust.

So avoid abandonment to your emotions and keep your wits about you.

This is a dangerous time.

And if you can, show compassion to those in the midst of panic. Help talk them down into reality. This is the “pull up your boot straps” mentality. This is what that phrase references. Times when you must reach deep for courage no matter what is before you.

Deep breaths, calm spirits.

We can make a wave of resistance impossible to defeat. But only if we try and stay united.
