🧵1) FFS, people responding on my last thread about norovirus and how we don't need a law to tell us to keep kids home cos we didn't pre covid.

The difference is I GET NOTIFIED IF THERE'S A CASE OF NOROVIRUS in my child's school and I am told to keep the child off if ill.

2)Surprise to some of you but NO shockingly not all parents do have common sense and don't keep their kids off with bugs. FACT.
Difference is we don't get notified about COVID and are expected to send our children in with it, fine because they're not ill I hear you say? ...

3)Fine because if they were ill we'd keep them home? No it doesn't work that way with this I'm afraid.
Kids asymptomatic and spreading COVID is not OK.

No one is downplaying norovirus here but it didn't kill 150000 people, it hasn't disabled or left 117000 kids suffering long

4)term effects of which over 20000 kids still have debilitating symptoms one year on from a "mild" infection.

So it's really not about whether or not your kid is ill enough to go to school.
It's about spreading it, it's about the underlying damage we are doing to children with

5) each infection. Norovirus should be treated as it is and parents made aware, surfaces cleaned and ill children kept off... absolutely! But the same for COVID needs to apply more urgently, we need to be informed, we need to clean and filter the air and we need to stop

6)the spread each time, not encourage it! COVID has been responsible for over 8000 children losing a parent or caregiver in the UK this is not flu, not norovirus!

We deserve to bloody well know what's circulating in our children's schools!!!! #safeEdForAll
