I remember when I finished NYSC @Shell_Nigeria in the late 80s and was working at Newswatch, then Nigeria's leading newsmagazine. I was planning to japa abroad for a master's and then on to an international career. A close friend offered me the possibility to become the company
secretary of a new bank in Lagos. That would have taken me on the path to become a Lagos big boy. I declined and stuck to my plans to go abroad and return home much later. "You are very idealistic my friend" he said sarcastically. "Sit down and let's make money together in Lagos"
I left Nigeria for graduate study, and then on the #UN for 17 years and then leaving and founding a risk management and strategy consultancy in Geneva. 19 years after my conversation with my friend I was headhunted back to Nigeria in 2009 as Deputy Governor of @cenbank
supervising a 17 trillion naira banking sector comprising 24 commercial banks with 57 subsidiaries in 31 countries, 5 development banks, 100 finance houses, 900 microfinance banks, and 3000 bureaux de change. I had to approve any appointment of a bank CEO, Chairman or
board member. And I was opportuned to play my own humble part in Nigerian history by leading the implementation of far-reaching reforms in the banking sector that stabilized and saved the system from collapse after the #GlobalFinancialCrisis of 2008, as well as payment system
reforms including #BVN , that created the enabling environment for today's booming #fintech sector. All of this was, of course, in the years BP ("Before Politics"). What's the point of this short story? Vision is a powerful thing. It must not follow conventional wisdom.
But it often becomes reality with hard work, applying ourselves, and God's favor. Hold on to your vision. It may tarry, but it will be established in due season. If I had listened to my friend in 1990 I would have still been a successful professional. But as @2niteFlavour would
say, "doings get level".

My Nigeria Unity Agenda: Here’s how, as President, I will unify Nigeria, reunite Nigerians, and kill ethnic tensions:
1. Ensure structural justice and equity and increase economic opportunities in all parts of Nigeria. Support #Restructuring back to real federalism.
2. Fairness to all: Equal treatment under the law (no sacred cows, regardless of ethnic/religious affiliation).

3. Transparency. A leader builds trust when he/she has no hidden agenda and this is obvious in leadership actions and policy.

4. Patriotism education and propagation
of a vision of Nigeria that creates unity of purpose amongst all Nigerians. This will also be propagated using mass and social media (no “Twitter Ban”, instead we will use social media for national healing).

There are many profiles in courage in the #EndSARS and #LekkiMassacre2020 . The many young men and women who marched peacefully and occupied the toll gate, singing the national anthem and waving our country's flag. The victims who gave their lives for their country.
Then those who played specific, special roles during/after the crisis such as @dj_switchaholic (who exposed the Massacre live) @SavvyRinu @AbdulMahmud01 , members of the Lagos State Judicial Panel who, against all odds and lies from the seats of power, spoke the TRUTH.
Our country owes them all.. I commend them.. Looking back years from now, #EndSARS and the #LekkiMassacre will be the recognized as the seed of the liberation of Nigeria's youth and the country’s citizens from the tyranny and selfishness of Nigeria's corrupt political elite.

1. Now that the Lagos State @followlasg Judicial Panel of Inquiry has affirmed that peaceful Nigerian citizens protesting police brutality were massacred at #Lekkitollgate in Lagos a year ago, the individuals in the @HQNigerianArmy and @PoliceNG who gave the unlawful
orders for the extrajudicial killings — as well as those who pulled the trigger — must pay for their crimes with prosecution and punishment.

2. As I said when the news of the killings broke to the world, these are violations of international humanitarian law in addition to
national laws. This was mass murder, and attempted mass murder, pure and simple. The perpetrators must not go free, and adequate restitution— which is also within the mandate of the judicial panel — must be made to all the protesters who were murdered in cold blood, injured, or

Until we take back our power in our struggling democracy, instead of surrendering it to the money and “structures” of political oligarchs, we will keep complaining about bad governance. We’re the voters, therefore na we be the “structure”, therefore na we suppose decide!
Good political organization matters. Any serious candidate must work on that. But that’s a different thing from us as people suspending what must be our serious judgment about who is the better CANDIDATE for an office, and then voting for corrupt, incompetent life time politicians
because they have “structure”. And then complain that our country is in bad shape. Who put it in bad shape? Us, in the beginning, by allowing the wrong persons to be at the helm. By our decisions, or the reluctance to decide in favor of competence and vision.

The Future of Nigeria’s Youth: The Promise of a Kingsley Moghalu Presidency

Press and Public Statement by Professor Kingsley Moghalu OON, Presidential Aspirant and Member of the African Democratic Congress @ADCNig

(Oxford, 20 October 2021).
A year ago, Nigerian youth organized themselves in the peaceful #EndSARS protests to demand freedom from police brutality. Quite sadly, the bravery of the young compatriots was met by even more brutality. Like millions of fellow citizens, and indeed our youth, I especially
remember those who paid who paid the ultimate price for freedom during the protest. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten or in vain.

Nigeria’s young men and women face many fundamental challenges. The strength of their numbers (nearly 70% of our population) is supposed to be
