Please enjoy this recently resurfaced video starring the MP that the voters of Beaconsfield chose over Dominic Grieve, and stop asking why this country is done.

Johnson has of course just appointed her as a PPS.

You’re welcome.

I really hope Nadine Dorries doesn’t now feel she needs to trump her colleague in some form to keep the PM’s attention. 😬
Yes, of course former B movie actors can be MPs. It’s just that the alternative was Dominic Grieve, who is a serious and knowledgeable person, who cares about things like laws and good governance, that sort of thing. This is the MP who wants a pic of the Queen in every house. 🤦🏻‍♂️
Some are saying we should focus on Joy Morrissey’s politics not her past acting career, and that’s fair enough, so here are her politics (other than wanting to send every household in the UK a portrait of the Queen to put up)

A lot of people I respect disagree, but my view remains, no matter how pro EU I am, that it would be electoral suicide for Labour to campaign to rejoin, giving the flagging Tory base that has almost nothing left to rally around an excuse to rejuvenate their nationalist message.1/
People are 'tired of #Brexit' (spoiler: it has barely started) and reopening up/deepening this whole debate now has no mileage in it. Brexit cannot and will not work, and you have to time the politics correctly. We will have to rejoin incrementally, in all but name, over time 2/
Unfortunately a huge amount of lasting damage will have been done, but that is ultimately what will lead to people reassessing this total disaster. Then the path will be clear for more rational policy-making, under a different government. Rejoin isn't currently electable, sadly.

Me in the headmaster’s office when a friend of mine had taken LSD in a field behind the bike shed (true story).
Ps. I hadn’t taken LSD in the field, just for clarity.

Last Monday. PM makes false slur about Savile against Starmer.

This Monday. Mob threatens Starmer with execution on the basis he didn’t prosecute Savile.

This is precisely the sort of thing that happened under Trump.

No minister willing to go on @Channel4News.

Sinister.
And Johnson HAS STILL not apologised properly or withdrawn the slur unequivocally. Just a general word salad clarifying his remarks. It’s like when Trump wouldn’t take responsibility for Jan 6th until he was forced to go on TV to calm the mob. This is just horrendous.

What a country we’ve become. Grim. Lots of issues going on here but unfortunately the politics of division & the celebration of ignorance are huge factors. I hope the PM is swift to condemn it. Really swift. Perhaps his new communications boss will help.
‘You should be hung’ they chant. Just like Trump’s people did to Pence. Same playbook, same outcome. It’s no good.

She’s back. It’s amazing. 🤗
As @MrJonNewton reminded me, Nadine told a select committee she will only ‘do the news’ if she is forced to. This means someone is forcing her to do this. It is a hostage situation.
I really want @louistheroux to do a programme in which he spends time with her.

“Then, to my considerable surprise, I was ambushed by a can of lager that was thrust into my hand during the course of the birthday party I didn’t know I was at, and I turned towards my official photographer in what looks like a pose, but was in fact me trying to leave at once.”
🚨 Nick Gibb has now sent in a letter too.
Bit silly of the Prime Minister to fire all his staff before the beer photo appeared as he can’t now fire all his staff now that the beer photo has appeared. #JohnsonMustGo
