Let’s jump in.
Most of what you hear about influencer marketing is niche strategy.
Find influencers in your niche, pay between $100-1500 for a post, and then try to be profitable.
This is the most expensive way you can operate when you could get your posts for free.
“Wait, how do you get free influencer spots? Is that ethical?”
The way we do it, it’s arguably more ethical than actually paying for it, & it works better for both parties.
The pay-for-post model is overly transactional, overpriced, & completely inauthentic.
Do this instead.
Identify 300 influencers in your niche that would represent your brand well.
Send them a DM that says:
- Your content is great
- You’d love our product
- Can we send it to you with no strings attached?
Did you catch why that works every time?
This is how you get them to love you. Instead of leading with the transaction, you’re leading with a relationship.
After this, you get their address and you send it to them.
This next part is where the magic happens.
Once you ship it out, you’ll find that magically, a couple days later, there’s a post from them where they tagged you.
They posted a video of your product without even having to ask.
Out of 300, 100 will respond, and 30-50 will end up posting you.
FOR FREE.
Did you force them to do this? No, of course not. They WANTED to do it, for a person that they consider a friend.
Now, I’ll reveal exactly where that crazy $10M part comes in. It’s so much simpler than you think and I have no clue why everyone isn’t doing this.
Send them this DM, word for word:
“We’re so glad you loved the product we sent you that you shared it with your audience, we’d love to share your content with our audiences as well, could we have the rights to do so?”
If they consent, you just struck gold. Here’s why.
Ad creatives that look like influencer reviews are some of the highest-performing ads we’ve ever seen.
No more high-budget production ads in 2022. THIS is what works.
But the only way to get usage rights is to lead with a relationship, not a transaction.
When you pay for the post upfront, you’re actually likely to get:
- Lower quality ads
- Less engagement
- A lower likelihood of getting usage rights
When you send them the product with no strings attached, you get high-performing ads for free.
Now what?
Load the videos up into your ads manager, run broad dynamic creative tests, & scale!
We’ve seen upwards of 4x ROAS on these ads, even after the craziness with iOS 14.
So how exactly did we scale this ad account from $0-10M with this strategy?
We know that content is king.
We know that influencers create the best content.
We know that these ads are native to the feed and perform better.
We get the content for free.
We create a strong relationship that will lead to future business down the road.
To clarify:
We treat influencers like human beings.
It’s as simple as that.
Instead of spending anywhere between $15,000-30,000 for 30-50 pieces of influencer content, we got it just by sending them free product.
