There is no hardware more threatening than printers. A whole ass Chaotic Evil device category that society has universally loathed for decades. An ugly, angry presence in your home or office, a cursed appliance that isn't afraid to let you know it hates itself and it hates you.
We got a new generic printer for basic office shit, and it's still sitting in the box because no one wants to be the one to engage in battle with it. It's just sitting in the office emanating bad vibes, a looming chore that bums you out when you pass by and remember it exists.
Just look at the fucking box; it makes your hairs stand on end just *seeing* a box like this, triggered by a lifetime of printer trauma. Everything about it is mad that it exists. No other class of device triggers a fight-or-flight response merely from the packaging.
Printers crave only death, and blame you for keeping them alive. When you ask them to do the one thing they were made to do they say "fuck you, fucking make me, pig.” When you engage with a printer you do so with the full understanding that it will choose violence, every time.
Imagine a more threatening text than someone saying "could you help me with my printer?" People have ended entire relationships over less.
I'm gonna anger the printer Gods if I don't mention that my huge pro Epson printer I use for my fine art prints is a trooper that has been kicking ass for years. And our laser document printer is good. But the basic color inkets in between are a godless hell of rage and suffering

15 years ago today, the @nineinchnails#YearZero ARG experience I co-created w/Trent Reznor & 42 Entertainment kicked off with a message hidden in a tour t-shirt and a USB stick discovered in a bathroom stall at a NIN concert in Portugal. 1/
For months, fans around the world discovered our Year Zero mythology through a complex interactive community experience that was one of the most exciting projects I’ve ever worked on, and meant so much to fans who participated that people still bring it up to me regularly. 2/
Two years ago today my debut graphic novel HIGH LEVEL (co-created with artist Barnaby Bagenda) was released! It's a project very close to my heart, so today I'm celebrating with a FREE comic+music sample pack download to get the book out to more people! A THREAD: 1/
Contains a hi-res PDF of the full first two issues of @highlevelcomic plus MP3s of the first 14 tracks of our killer original soundtrack. 100% free/direct, no signup/DRM.
Please RT! 2/
For those of you who read High Level book 1 and keep asking "what's next?" here's where it's at: Our label Vertigo was sadly shut down (thanks AT&T) before the book was even published. But I can't get the rights back yet because Warner Bros is holding it for TV/movie options. 3/
One of the most depressing aspects of the pandemic for me has been clearly seeing these two paths from the beginning, and then watching how many of our leaders, institutions, & neighbors not only scoffed at the possibility of option 1, but have been actively FIGHTING for option 2
We haven’t even had a breath to deal with our collective pandemic trauma so no one wants to think about this yet, but the real depressing lesson of covid is: Good luck surviving the climate crisis. You’d better be rich, because we’ve made it VERY clear it’s every man for himself.
All of this. Spotify is not merely hosting misinformation, but FUNDING it. That is why, as I’ve explained to many angry brogans, this boils down to the ethics of the company and what consumers want to put their money behind. Consumers do this ALL THE TIME. It’s not censorship.
Tech cos like Spotify who have coasted on “content-agnostic” philosophies for what they host are now all trying to become media cos, which means what consumers are paying for is no longer just the software, but the content, and consumers CARE about what content they’re funding.
If you’re going to start putting customers’ money into producing content, you are not allowed to be surprised when consumers have an opinion on that & express it with their wallets! It’s literally how this has ALWAYS WORKED but techbros aren’t used to that kind of accountability.
At one point on here I joked that the male version of “Karens” should be called “Rogans,” well anyway one hour ago I tweeted one reply critical of Rogan and his stans are literally asking to speak with my manager over it
Now we’re getting emails - again, from my ONE offhand tweet about Spotify/Rogan - from antivaxxers who have “done their own research” and decided to send us ALL of it, pages and pages of rambling “research” (although they have not done enough research on spell-checking)
The new thing the Rogans are doing is posting these two replies together on right-wing meme accounts as an example of my “hypocrisy.” My IG comments are flooded with trolls saying “gotcha cuck” and lmao IMAGINE how dense you have to be to think these are contradictory statements
