Sharing a short 🧵 of #PatientEngagement in #Research resources co-created by & approaches to working w/ #PatientPartners in @cpn_rdc. CPN is funded by @CIHR_IRSC's Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research initiative & I've had the privilege to help with its #PE work .../1
#PatientPartners are part CPN's governance as co-chairs of and members on all committees. More about CPN here cpn.mcmaster.ca, and its #PatientEngagement Cttee is tasked with carrying out its #PE work. The Cttee is mostly ppl who live with #Pain & a few researchers...2
#PatientEngagement can seem overwhelming if you're new to it as a #Researcher or #Trainee. The #PE Cttee has some advice on simply talking to #PatientPartners about your research as a start. You never know the ideas those conversations lead to cpn-rdc.ca/docs/default-s… .../3
Or maybe you're at a loss for how #PatientPartners might be part of your team 7 contribute to a project you're planning (afterall, co-creation from the start is usually the best way to partner) cpn-rdc.ca/docs/default-s… ..../4
Maybe you'd rather hear from #PatientPartners and #Researchers directly about some of the key concepts related to #PatientEngagement and #PE in action on a research team. @cpn_rdc's webinar series is for you-pick & choose topics that interest you cpn.mcmaster.ca/PEER ..../5
And if you're looking for a resource related to #PatientCompensation @cpn_rdc, members of the Network contributed to this document that outlines specific rates for different types of engagement cpn.mcmaster.ca/docs/default-s… #PatientEngagement ..../6
Or if you're interested in publishing w/ #PatientPartners, we've developed guidance (has a figure explaining publishing an academic paper) researchinvolvement.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…. Written by me, @katebirnie @stinson, KBegley and pt partners @delanelinkie @lspht @Therese_Lane01 & KEubanks .../7
Just wanted to share some of these #PatientEngagement resources & approaches in @cpn_rdc that have all been co-created with its amazing group of #PatientPartners over the past 6 years. 💜 .../end

👉not everyone wants it - cool
👉some people will ask for flexibility in payment
👉if you don't have a budget for this, be transparent

If you're offended or defensive about my last tweet 👆re: 'best practice to offer #PatientPartners #compensation' - I'm ok with that, but you're not going to change my mind. In my experience, you represent a specific demographic that has the privilege to feel that way. ..../3
