CHP's Dr Albert Au on the rising (and record-breaking) number of cases each day: Hope the social distancing measures start to work, but in the near future, we expect case numbers to continue to rise.
The Hospital Authority has 87 negative pressure ICU beds. 62 are occupied (71%). Not all are occupied by COVID-19 patients.
Dr Lau Ka-hin: The agreement with private hospitals at the moment means non-Covid patients who are recovering from surgery etc will be transferred from public hospitals.
Dr Lau: Choi Wing Road Sports Centre is being used for patients who attend A&E but no beds available. They need care rather than treatment. Can't go home/back to RCHE.
Also patients in hospital who are ready to discharge, but can't go home.
Dr Lau: (on the lack of details given) This is a war-like period. The HA staff are busy caring for patients. Don't have time to ask everyone each patients' details.
