Being a mother and a teacher offers me a great opportunity to help my daughters & students shape their futures. Unfortunately sometimes the decision isn’t in their hands nor mine. Today Im going to share the story of my dear student Fatima.

Fatima was one of my brilliant students, she was delightful & energetic, aspiring to become a lawyer. She was full of hopes and dreams that she wanted to pursue.
Suddenly Fatima was absent from class for a while, I was worried about her especially that she wouldn’t miss classes+

unjustifiably.I asked her friends ,but no one had any news. After few weeks the headmaster announced her as a case of socio-economical drop out.
I went to visit her family hoping to understand more. Her family admitted that Fatima is a smart and determinant student but they had +

other plans for her. Due to the family’s financial status they could afford to educate only one of their children, so they chose their elder son and Fatima was to be married to her cousin in the upcoming days.
Girls like Fatima have to drop out of school for economical reasons +

or because of social beliefs are deprived of their right to education and a better future.
To build a community where girls and women do participate in social construction we need to encourage and ensure their access to education.
