Interim Conservative Leader Candice Bergen has dropped Eric Duncan, the party's first openly gay MP, from the senior caucus leadership team, and has not given him a shadow cabinet post. #cdnpoli
Duncan declined comment on Tuesday and pointed the Globe to his Twitter statement where he announced that in response to his exit he is also resigning from the party's leadership election organizing committee.
Duncan's election in 2019 was widely celebrated by Conservatives. @l_stone wrote a profile about him a while back, where he said he "reluctantly embraced" his historic role. #cdnpolitheglobeandmail.com/politics/artic…
@l_stone Since Erin O'Toole's ouster three weeks ago, Bergen has changed up the senior caucus leadership team and MP critic portfolios and appointed a new executive director for the party. #cdnpoli
@l_stone Another high profile move: Bergen removed prominent Conservative MP Michelle Rempel Garner from a shadow cabinet post. Bergen is recommending she be added to the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians. A significant, but low profile post #cdnpoli
@l_stone Also at 3:58 p.m. on Friday, while police were slowly making their way through the Ottawa blockade, Bergen announced that the party had a new executive director. Wayne Benson replaced Janet Fryday Dorey, she is now Director of Strategic Operations. #cdnpoli

First Q to Justin Trudeau is whether the spending is responsible & when the budget will be balanced. He defends it and says Canada is in a good fiscal position. "This is the plan that Canada needs to be even more ambitious" on child care, climate change and housing, says Trudeau.
This is a responsible and prudent plan, says Trudeau #cdnpoli
Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole arrives at a Markham rally with his family, waving his platform above his head.
This is his last rally on the road for now. He’s heading back to Ottawa tonight #cdnpoli
The party says 235 people are in attendance (plus about 50 from the Conservative tour). #cdnpoli
O’Toole’s rally was shorter than past ones. He emphasized again the Conservative party’s platform, repeatedly holding it up as a prop during his stump speech #cdnpoli
In questions from reporters, O’Toole is asked about critiques of his carbon pricing plan, which some experts say is overly complex and will be difficult to implement.
O’Toole doesn’t engage with the Q just repeats what his plan is. #cdnpoli
O’Toole is asked again about his emissions reduction targets. In April he said he wouldn’t meet Canada’s promised 40-45% cut. He doesn’t repeat that, just says that he is commited to the Paris targets.
Note: The Paris targets were set in 2015 and are lower than the new targets.
O’Toole is pressed four times to explain what he would have done on Afghanistan if he had been Prime Minister.
He says he would have a plan but does not explain what it is, and gives no specifics. He says he would act and lead but doesn’t say what he would do or how #cdnpoli
