Apparently Veterans 4 Freedom member Jeremy Mackenzie is getting a January 6th vibe regarding Canada Day this year, based on things he's seeing talked about in his online circles.

... and Jeremy clearly has no plans to expose the comments he's seeing.
I guess he is hoping for more CSIS attention.
Apparently he didn't learn from Derek Harrison's Jan 6th comment. 😉…

In the past Veterans 4 Freedom have echoed Jeremy's claim that he isn't a spokesperson for them, but what I find interesting is that V4F first mentioned ongoing summer protests in June but Jeremy talked about it a month earlier.

2022 Canada Day Public Safety Planning:

We are working with #CanadaDay organizers and our policing partners to implement a public safety plan that allows all Canadians and visitors to freely and safely enjoy the capital during this celebration. #ottawa #ottnews
The expectation is that this Heritage Canada event will be larger than usual both in terms of crowd size and the footprint of the event.

We are also expecting several large events throughout the Ottawa area to celebrate the day.
These factors, combined with an increased level of protests and demonstrations, are guiding our planning. There will be significant road closures and a major increase in police presence. We will be bringing multiple extra policing resources from several services.

And we are starting on time.

They are talking in French, but "you'll be able to translate in zoom".

@CommissionOlrt such things don't exist for anyone watch the screen share live stream or after the fact recording.

At least the close captioning is in English :)
Finally translations came over ❤

Someone was trying to break into my apartment, they though I was moving out and needed a repaint.

Everything is about bidding, costs and what was requested by RTG/City.

No gems yet.

Today Guests:
- Rob Pattison (Infrastructure Ontario) – Morning
- Marian Simulik (City of Ottawa) – Afternoon

So we now begin. We start be talking about AFP's and cost over runs and procurement process - and the role of Infrastructure Ontario.
Now we are getting into the muddy waters of P3.

Rob Pattison (witness) states designing, building and maintaining doesn't make a P3. It is the financing model that separates it from a traditional bid and build model.

I know everyone is exhausted but the city is committing a lot of money just 2 months before being officially declared lame duck (meaning we couldn’t spend more than $50,000 on any one item). #Ottawa #Ottnews
$150 million was recently approved for staff to work on a contribution to the new civic and parking garage, which will pave over a large park, trees and greenspace in the core. It is a provincial responsibility we’d be paying for and could end being a tax levy.
Lansdowne 2.0 is being debated on Wednesday in a rushed decision to approve $332.5 million in new budget authority without the public being consulted.…

1. I am now in virtual courtroom 14 of the Ottawa courthouse of the Ontario Court of Justice. The convoy protestor by « Dana Lee Melfi » has his camera open. There’s also someone whispering on zoom.

Bookmark this thread for my live court updates for June 2, 2022
2. Matthew Wolfson (@MatthewWolfson2), a counsel for the firm of David Anber (@DavidAnber), is also one of the participants in courtroom 14.

Mr. Wolfson and Mr. Anber are the counsels representing a lot of accused that are facing charges related to the convoy protests.
3. You can now access the virtual courtroom 7, the Ontario Court of Justice. I would recommend logging into this courtroom if you want to watch criminal pre-trials that involve convoy protestors.

🇨🇦 It should be pretty easy to prove the American-registered ISR aircraft conducting surveillance over Ottawa in late January and early February was not related to the convoy. A course plan? Any documentation re: booking the training?

#N330TT appears out of nowhere over Metcalf at 3000ft, lands at #YOW; it made it that far without being detected by open source flight trackers. That's suspicious; private aircraft can't do that.

They're great until they cut off your area for delivery after months of service without warning, then you become like me, trying to find and convince a human at @Instacart that they couldn't possibly have cut service to part of #Ottawa intentionally, and that they made a mistake.
I'd like confirmation that an @Instacart product manager woke up one morning and said, you know what? I'm going to intentionally throw established customers in the west-end of #Ottawa under the bus, and not notify them either. Ça fait aucun sens @fidjissimo.
I didn't know @apoorva_mehta is Canadian; I'd like to think that gives #Ottawa @Instacart service an edge, but since my area was cut off after months of service, that's not the case. I can't believe they'd be *shrinking* their coverage, which is why I think there was a mistake.

One of the freest countries in the world that recently had a free election does not need freedom lessons from a bunch of troublemakers intent on whining about losing an election or the use of scientifically-proven vaccines and masks to keep people safer in a pandemic. #Ottawa

Some quick thoughts on the strategic Lansdowne leak today. #Ottawa #Ottnews

1) City Report still isn’t out, we had to get the OSEG report from journalists, and a week to consider this not ideal.

2) The transportation to and from this site remains a critical element not fixed
3) The 1200 units proposed have not been planned based on the site itself but there to help the $330M financial deal - tax increment financing (city debt to help pay for facilities which is purportedly paid back by future tax uplift from units instead of going to city wide tax).
4) Some positive aspects to this project- some housing on the site (need more truly affordable housing-TBD in this plan), smaller retail, a better waterfall for the city and public realm improvements. Important to do consultation and get real input but let the next council decide

Just wrote a letter to @OCDSB to implore them to reinstate masks in schools. As Trustees in #Ottawa, they have the opportunity to lead the way for Ontario. Other Boards of Education will follow suit. I'll copy the entire letter as a 🧵, and I sent a copy to @OttawaCitizen #onted
Dear @OCDSB Trustees,
I am writing to you as a family physician in Ottawa, to advocate on behalf of my patients and the broader Ottawa community.
As you know, we are in the thick of a public health crisis in Ottawa, and across Ontario, as Covid-19 is ravaging our population. 🧵
We all agree that schools should have been the last to close and the first to open in every wave of this pandemic. However, @ONThealth public health policy has repeatedly failed to prioritize the safety of our children or our educators. 🧵

Update on afternoon convoy: Earlier this week, @ottawapolice was advised of a vehicle-based demonstration from Quebec intending on making symbolic passage through Ottawa and then proceeding to an end destination in Vankleek Hill.
A restricted route (with no stopping or honking) was designated to expedite the safe passage of the convoy with community safety in mind. The route utilized truck routes to keep them rolling through #Ottawa.
We worked with our partners to implement multiple road closures with a strong police presence throughout the downtown core.

1/ Early thoughts on #DoffDay from Covid crazy central (urban #Ottawa). Drove past my child's former elementary school. Looked like about 85-90% masked walking to school and in the yard, though some of the staff were not wearing them. Interesting.
2/First trip to the grocery store. Out of around 10 customers in the store, I was the only one not wearing a mask. The maskers looked even more frightened and outraged than usual. I saw one woman sanitize her hands 3 times. Store staff were 50/50 masked and unmasked. Interesting.
3/Ottawa will remain heavily masked for the first week or two. Even those who want to take them off will find it intimidating at first. Seeing people not wearing them in greater and greater numbers will give people courage to finally let go. We need face ambassadors.
