#breaking the US believes Russia intends to launch a full invasion of #Ukraine within 48hrs involving massive air campaign, land invasion, cyber, and even airborne ops, intelligence sources tell me. Developing story. newsweek.com/exclusive-us-w…
"Additionally," the U.S. official added, "reporting from aircraft observers indicates Russia violated Ukrainian airspace earlier today, flying possible reconnaissance aircraft for a short period over Ukraine."
"The President of Ukraine has been warned Russia will highly likely begin an invasion within 48 hours based on U.S. intelligence," the U.S. official with direct knowledge told Newsweek.
“Shortly after Newsweek was made aware of these U.S. assessments, the websites for Ukraine's Defense Ministry, Foreign Ministry and other institutions abruptly went offline in what signaled a potential sweeping cyber attack…”
Source close to #zelensky govt just confirmed to us that they were made aware of US assessment.
I’ve never wanted my reporting to be wrong because of what it means for the people of Ukraine and the world.
.@DeptofDefense spokesperson gives me a statement, in part, which says “for planning purposes, @PentagonPresSec is scheduled to conduct a press briefing later this afternoon (tentatively 3 pm).”
There is currently no indication that a U.S. response would be anything but sanctions. No indications of US or NATO forces involved if Russia does send ground forces in.
A source who was part of an @whnsc call yesterday confirmed the White House was “incredibly pessimistic” about this being limited to the newly recognized republics and that a full invasion is likely to occur in 24-48 hours.
A source close to #Zelensky has just confirmed what US intel sources told me, that earlier today Russian military aircraft flew into Ukranian air space in what is thought to be a probing of Russian air defense systems and/or reconnaissance.
Again more confirmation of my earlier reporting, as one NATO official confirmed to CNN they were given a similar intelligence assessment.
Language by officials is important the term “uncoiling” has significant meaning. It has been used to describe the current state of Russian ground forces along Ukraine’s border.👇🏽
“The views expressed by the U.S. Army Reserve Soldier are hers alone and do not constitute an official statement by the U.S. Army Reserve.” @USArmyReserve spokesperson to me.
I suspect there is more to come in this story. Turns out people want to talk about her and distance themselves from her pro-Putin and anti-US, Biden, and Ukraine statements.
Update: her command, 1st Special Forces Command, has given me the following statement “Tulsi Gabbard’s comments made in her civilian capacity represent her views and not those of 1st Special Forces Command.”
"The FBI Cyber Division, in coordination with the FBI's Office of Private Sector (OPS), prepared this LIR to inform the private sector about the threat of Russian state-sponsored advanced persistent threat (APT) cyber activities, while tensions with Russia are heightened,"
"RUS has targeted clear def contractors - companies that support the military," the U.S. cyber warfare officer said. "this is a normal tactic and we would expect this to be no different in the pre-hostilities for Ukraine. Specifically, any contractors who support UKR govt & mil."
Why do evangelicals like Russia? Russia has a higher abortion rate and few go to church. So maybe it’s Russia’s extreme anti-LGBTQ views or their embrace of authoritarianism? Maybe it’s bc they are an overwhelmingly white country with little diversity? politico.com/magazine/story…
There is this weird belief by evangelicals that Russia has an ideology that is compatible with them. It does not. Russias only goal is the removal of the United States from the world stage, and they will use anyone who helps them achieve that.
“In the same sense that Russia’s [anti-LGBT] laws came about in 2013, we’ve seen similar sorts of laws proposed in Tennessee, for example,”
“Boebert said she received her GED — a high school equivalency diploma — after completing a four-course review.” Not her 4th try, but it sounds like she was given a GED after finishing a review course and not testing. coloradosun.com/2020/09/16/lau…

Hearing reports and off-the-record discussions that Lamay, the WA trooper who refused to get vaxxed and told @GovInslee to “kiss his ass” and then contracted COVID, has taken a turn for the worse. Have reached out for official comment from several sources.
A @wastatepatrol spokesperson tells me they have no further information beyond saying “at this point, the only thing we can and should say is that we hold him and his family in our thoughts and prayers during such a sad and difficult time.”
Reached out to @Sessler, who is running for Congress and was recently endorsed by Mike Flynn, for comment. Lamay campaigned with Sessler after leaving the troopers.
Speaking to intelligence and military sources as tensions rise between Russia and the U.S., they worry of an unintended event that could lead to rapid and uncontrolled escalation. newsweek.com/ukraine-war-wi…
Back in 2014 a Russian supplied SAM operated by Russian separatists shot down a civilian airliner. As Russian forces go on alert the risk of a repeat of this climbs. bbc.com/news/world-eur…
While the militaries of both side would not purposefully begin something. It is not hard to see how a Russian commander could mistake an aircraft, in international airspace heading towards them, as an attack. It happened in Iran. newsweek.com/iranians-shot-…
