This is the splendid lingam, worshipped by Lord Sri Rama. Agastya Maharshi worshipped this Lingam, given to him by Varada Muni. It was later handed over to Sri Matha by Sri Adi Shankaracharya. #Mahashivratri
A very happy and blessed #Mahashivratri.
Lingam, in Hinduism, is a votary object that symbolizes lord Shiva & is revered as an emblem of generative power. The image below is of Chandramauleshwar Lingam worshipped by Sri Rama, Rishi Agasthya and Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankarachaya!
The sixteenth scar is Akshaya; unending and inexhaustible. That is ever-present in the head of lord Shiva. The lunar-line is clearly, naturally, in the head of Chandramauleshwar. So it is the only appropriate Chandramauleshwar lingam in the world. #Mahashivratri @AbodeOfLakshmi
Chandramauleshwara Linga of Sri Ramachandrapura Matha, where Mauli means 'absolute' position. The presence of lunar-scar is the identity of real Chandramauleshwar . The fifteen scars of the Moon have 'Vriddhi and Kshaya'. #Mahashivratri
The design of entire Indian map during Rama's reign, triangles within triangles interconnected, in the centre can be seen on the east side of the lingam. The most subtle point. The point is Shiva himself. The triangle is the representation of Goddess Devi. #Mahashivratri
One of the many special features of the lingam is the difference in the lunar luminosity during the Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha. The lingam has been worshipped by the thirty-six Yativarenyas of the sole aboriginal lineage of Adiguru Shankaracharya. #MahaShivRatri2022
Worship has been going on twice a day, by the Peethadipathis of SriMatha for millennia. There were many attempts and wars to occupy this precious lingam. But Chandramauleshwar never left Srimatha. #Mahashivratri
Only one Adi Shankaracharya to the world, so is the only Chandramauleshwar lingam and one and only Sri Ramachandrapura Matha in the world. #Mahashivratri
Sri Ramachandrapura Matha, being one of the "ShankaraPeethas" established by Sri Adi Shankaracharya himself, has built a unique temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, Sri Chandramauleshwara Temple at Hosanagara, on the banks of Sharavati River. #MahaShivaratri
River Sharavathi is renowned for nurturing Srikshetras on her banks. Among them Sri Ramachanadrapura Matha is prominent. In this sacred place Paramapujya @SriSamsthana's dream of a unique and grand temple of Sri Chandramauleshwara has been brought into reality. #MahaShivaratri
'Gajaprishtha' architecture of this temple is very rare in South India. Temple has greenery of Malenaadu on one side, flowing Sharavathi on the other. Garbhagriha of Chandramauleshwara has a Pushkarini surrounding it. On the outer boundary, there lies Chatusshala. #Mahashivaratri
Gajaprishtha style of architecture : A style specially meant for Shiva which is very difficult to design. This is the speciality of Chandramauleeshwara temple. #MahaShivaratri
The positivity of the atmosphere, the calm and vast space around the surrounding, the Pushkarani on flow, an aesthetic rose-garden add to the positive vibrations and glory of this unique Shiva Kshetra. #MahaShivaratri
The temple witnessed a thousands of devotees and the chanting of SriRudram by 1800+ RudraPathakas on Monday, 28th February for Soma-Saparya, Puja being offered to Soma(Shiva with Uma) on the rare Occasion of Soma-Pradosha. #MahaShivaratri
A special Pooja will be offered to the deity, Sri Chandramauleshwara on account of #MahaShivaratri tonight by Paramapujya Srimajjagadguru Shankaracharya SriSriRaghaveshwaraBharathi Swamiji.
May Mahadeva shower his benign blessings on us, with his eternal love & strength.
