In DC, we partied just as hard as we worked. People were getting jobs from connections made at the events. People partnered up to build businesses or consult others. You can party and network your way into a job, but it has to be intentional. It's known in DC to connect that way.
Not so much everywhere else, so networking can be hard to do in a space where people perceive it to be about the party vs. actually connecting. Organizations have to be intentional when planning events. Even when I hosted liquor filled brunches, one thing we did is have a speaker
Who spoke life into us as we entered an afternoon of tequila, cognac, and some variations of mimosas and bellinis.

The speaker would stay most times, too, but so many people connected with me after - sometimes months later, saying they landed a job from a referral at my event.
