see, rahul gandhi is undoubtedly a nice guy. id ask him to babysit my kid and my dog. and send him a copy of my book and discuss vipassana with him. but he is not a politician. what is good about him is also what prevents him from rising. this is the nature of duality.
the manipulative power plays of the others are what make them politicians. people said they lost faith in Kejriwal, he changed, he turned out to be no different. yes. what changed about him is what kept him in the game. this is the nature of duality.
duality is the principle of two things that co exist. that which raises you is also what destroys you. that which obstructs you is also your saving grace. all of life has this paradox to it. and this complexity is what we have to figure out to navigate. detachment is necessary
Yathā-bhūta-ñāna-dassana
knowledge according to reality, not as you wish it to be.
you cannot be a nice guy in politics. you cannot be a politician among friends.
we are capable of paradox and must act according to the circumstance.
when parents say, I cannot scold my child, I love him, the child is lost, without structure or discipline.
even the best of us must act ruthlessly and even the worst of us must show compassion. life will make it so. either you learn, or you keep confronting the same obstacle
your other option is you realise what is not for you and find other ways to fulfil your purpose. it is possible to very influential and powerful in roles that allow you to be a nice guy.
Honour who you are and what the circumstance demands from you. then you are in alignment.

In March 2019, I went on a 10-day #vipassana course. It concluded on Holi, the Phalguni moon that was in the sky when the Buddha attained his enlightenment. The journey since then has been path altering. Do read about my bumbling foray as a novice here. amazon.in/dp/9389253551/…
By the time the pandemic hit, I was, as Tenzin Palmo put it, in a boat pulling people out of the water. #Anitya is a work that applies counselling with the lens of the #Buddha's Four Noble Truths. It tells you how to use the changes you have to face.
I retrained as a counsellor because I found alot of people heading to vipassana were not ready for the internal dialogue. it can get overwhelming. I recommend therapy first / alongside deep meditation. Both in combination are a powerfully transformative instrument
to be truly 'one with' is to become the base unit by which the universe is built. a character-less, feature-less, identity-less atom. the more you distinguish yourself the farther from that you move. if your interconnectedness anoints you, you have not understood oneness
the problem with humanity today is we are a universe in expansion, each moving away from our cores as rapidly as we can. each seeking a certain distinction. which is attainable. but in attaining it you forget what is born must disintegrate.
and so in seeking achievement, you seek to perish.
in seeking nothingness, oneness, you seek nothing.
and nothing doesnt perish.
equanimity, stability, perfection, absoluteness, whatever you call it, only exists in the perfect stillness of the Zero.
I think the rise of women in white collar crime (Chitra Ramakrishna, Chanda Kocchar) is a far greater indicator of women's equality than women achievers. It's only when women are free to be as culpable as men we've got somewhere. discard the goody two shoes woman boss trope.
women try too hard. this whole women achievers thing is a set up so you quantify in terms of profit why you should be given some respect. if a woman says eff your respect. im going to live as I choose to, she's sidelined. wake up. you're being rewarded for complying.
by all means achieve. by all means accept praise. but if the set up is that the more you rise within a patriarchally defined framework the more you will be rewarded, ask what that rising will require of you. who set the rules. who will be pleased and do the awarding?
many a time people come in to therapy, will get the tail end of an intervention, obtain one or two insights and feel like 'hey I resolved this' and stop therapy. here's why that's problematic
first, if you're starting out therapy, you're not likely to be given the whole intervention. an exercise often has many components and stages to it that builds on revealed insight. for instance, you have an a-ha moment in journalling. that's probably not the *end* of therapy
it's more likely to be the *beginning*. a therapist may ask you to start journalling (using this as an eg since many are familiar with it) as a way to ease you in, get your thoughts out with clarity, cultivate a habit of self reflection, remove filters in thought process
The #weekly#tarot couldn't have been more apt for the stellium in Pisces [Jupiter, Neptune, Sun] and the constant quiet copresence of Mercury. It seems a reminder that beneath the chaos, there is purpose, message on its way. Just go with the flow. Indeed what else can we do
It reminds me of these lines from the poem 'The Word' by Tony Hoagland.
It's as though Mercury, Jupiter in Pisces are summoning the mystical, keeping it luminous, flowing, bright, because the surface is so harsh. You have a place to go. it is inside you. 8 of Wands here is not just an external message, or creative output but a need for self communion
Heart wrenching to watch Zelenskyy struggle with the harsh truth. The West has already let him down. NATO is not coming. the EU is not coming. the US is not coming. They won't declare a no fly zone. No one who propped him up is coming to save him. He's been played.
And he repeats it heroically, futilely, post after post. like some tragic Greek hero. His hamartia is that he still believes. That he inspires belief. And as long as he holds to delusion they will keep telling him what he wants to hear. but they won't sacrifice themselves for him
seeing reality is the most important act of the mind. knowing how things really are, recognising that there are interplays beyond the apparent. Even Israel won't anger Russia, not even for a Jewish president. so wheels dont turn as expected. mechanisms we take for granted fail us
