.@RepCawthorn is having the worst week since his inauguration. Let’s talk about the nation’s youngest member of Congress. With any luck, it’ll help his constituents vote him out of office in November (assuming he’s even on the ballot since he’s constitutionally ineligible)
THREAD
Just this week:
—He was charged for driving with a revoked driver’s license (2nd time in 5 years)
—A recent video surfaced in which he called Ukrainian President Zelensky a “thug.” He also called the Ukrainian government corrupt
—He called @SpeakerPelosi an alcoholic/drug addict
Cawthorn’s past is a veritable minefield of lies, misogyny, treason, and serious criminal accusations/behavior.

From sexual harassment and assault to stolen valor to inciting an insurrection to attempting to take a firearm onto an airplane, this guy belongs nowhere near Congress
Back in March of 2021, Cawthorn faced allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct by multiple women who claimed he put them in uncomfortable situations when he was a college student.

The women detailed how he would use “fun drives” as a way to make unwanted advances on them.
According to one of his former classmates at Patrick Henry College (where Cawthorn attended in 2016 before dropping out), “His MO was to take vulnerable girls out on these drives with him and then to make advances.”

“He asked me about my purity ring and my sexual experiences.”
She felt something was off about him so she shut down the conversation, but then Madison became enraged.

“He got really upset, whipped the car around and started speeding back to campus at 80mph on these one-lane roads! It was really scary.” Two students made similar claims.
The students said Madison was always trying to get them to go for drives. “There was a lot of sexual innuendo. It got really uncomfortable walking to and from class. He would yell out to us ‘Hey! You ready to take that fun drive today’”? He just wouldn’t stop pestering us.”
Cawthorn’s office responded to these allegations by releasing a statement saying “The voters of Western North Carolina responded to these allegations by giving Madison Cawthorn a 12-point victory over his opponent.”

Was this the message you were trying to send, Western NC?
In a 2017 speech, Cawthorn described his 2014 car accident in which he claimed a friend (Bradley Ledford) had “left him for dead.”

Ledford refuted these claims, saying “That is not at all what happened. I pulled him out of the car the second I was able to get out.”
Cawthorn’s own parents undercut his account of the event and now he claims he has no memory of the accident.

Cawthorn also lied about his service record, claiming on his campaign site that he was accepted to the Naval Academy but “his plans were derailed by his accident.”
However, in a 2017 deposition, Cawthorn admitted that he had been rejected by the Academy prior to his accident.

He deliberately misrepresented this to make it appear like he was a heroic would-be marine when really he was just a high school drop out that was never admitted.
Also in 2017, Madison visited Adolf Hitler’s former vacation home in Germany known as “The Eagle’s Nest.” In his since deleted Instagram posts (below), he referred to Hitler as “the Fuhrer!” said visiting “had been on his bucket list for a while” and that it “did not disappoint!”
Madison also helped incite the insurrection, endorses the big lie, calls women “earthen vessels,” tells mothers to “raise their children to be monsters,” and has no discernible capacity to demonstrate respect or patriotism.

If he isn’t disqualified, NC needs to VOTE HIM OUT.
For those asking how he’s ineligible; Madison’s participation in the insurrection (both in terms of encouraging people to attend and in relentlessly defending “the patriots” who took part in it afterwards) disqualified him from holding public office under the 14th Amendment § III
He’s trying to fight this in court but it is unlikely because of the straightforward nature of this clause in the constitution that was added after the Civil War to keep traitors out of gov’t. @JohnBonifaz’s organization is working to keep insurrectionists off the ballot in 2022.

Republicans are attacking Biden, which helps Putin

They’re blocking Biden’s nominees to critical diplomatic and security posts, which helps Putin

They’re disobeying direct instructions from our ambassadors not to share sensitive intel, which helps Putin
#GOPtheRussianParty
They helped incite an attack on our Capitol to end democracy, which is Putin’s exact goal in Ukraine

They’re limiting access to voting across the country to steal back the House in November

They still support the guy who called Putin’s invasion of Ukraine “genius” & “wonderful”
They continue to pass bills that attack and endanger trans people, who Putin hates

They continue to roll back reproductive rights for women, which is what Putin has done

They continue to attack our education system by banning books and whitewashing history, just like Putin

Trump recently claimed “There would be no NATO if I didn’t act strongly and swiftly! Let history so note!”

Trump’s actual history with NATO both before and during his term notes the exact opposite.

Let’s recap. Keep in mind weakening NATO has been one of Putin’s primary goals.
In one of Trump’s books published in 2000–‘The America We Deserve’—Trump claimed that the money we invest in NATO was a complete waste.

“America has no vital interest in choosing between warring factions whose animosities go back centuries in Eastern Europe,” he wrote.
During the 2016 election, Trump repeatedly exaggerated the U.S. contribution to NATO.

Then when he took office, he claimed that “hundreds of billions” of dollars had gone to NATO because of him, even suggesting some of the funds were provided to the U.S. None of this was true.

#G7 statement on #PutinsWar:
We, the Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) are appalled by and condemn the large-scale military aggression by the Russian Federation against the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, directed partly from Belarusian soil.
This unprovoked and completely unjustified attack on the democratic state of Ukraine was preceded by fabricated claims and unfounded allegations. It constitutes a serious violation of international law and a grave breach of the United Nations Charter and all commitments.
Russia entered in the Helsinki Final Act and the Charter of Paris and its commitments in the Budapest Memorandum. We as the G7 are bringing forward severe and coordinated economic and financial sanctions. We call on all partners and members of the international community to
