There's sadly a very good chance that China is about to turn into a massive morgue and a SARS-CoV-2 variant factory. It's not because Omicron is unstoppable, it's because the west decided to #letitrip, making it harder and harder to prevent outbreaks.
While compared to Europe, China currently looks like this - Image
The problem is when you look closer - Image
And we can see what has happened in Hong Kong, where it should in theory be much easier to control. Image
Most horrifying though, is this curve. Hong Kong has recorded the highest rolling per capita death toll *of the entire pandemic* Image
Why? China and Hong Kong have both done relatively well with vaccine rollouts. The #letitrip brigade will have you believe lack of prior infections is the problem. Image
This of course is a nonsense argument, which suggests it better that people die earlier than later - the antithesis of medicine and disease control.

The reality is that Sinovac, the Chinese vaccine, appears to protect very poorly against recent variants.
hongkongfp.com/2022/02/26/fac…
China is reacting, with lockdowns, as well as work on updated vaccines.

scmp.com/news/china/sci…
Will it work? I hope so. If Omicron rips through a Sinovac vaccinated population of more than a billion, China is going to be in a lot of trouble ... and if you thought the Russian invasion of Ukraine was causing global trade issues, this will make it pale in to insignificance.
The problem is of course - the West pretty much insists that China gets infected sooner or later. We've decided waves of virus, potentially multiple times a year, is the way forward, with more chances for new, worse variants, and more and more people with Long Covid.
This is predictable, and it is insanity.

We must change. #LookUp

Question for #longcovid sufferers that improved after vaccinations.

I was "mildly" infected in wave 1 and very ill for most of 2020. Jan 2021 I was hospitalized with a reinfection, but LC improved significantly for some time then began to worsen again after a couple of months. >
Then I was vaccinated and it improved further. Slightly worsened, then dose 2 improved things even more. Slightly worsened then dose 3 improved things again and I felt good enough I was planning on a return to training.
>
The last 2-3 weeks though I seem to be reverting badly. Utter exhaustion. Need 15+hrs sleep to feel functional. Tachycardia. GERD worsening. Nausea. Stomach pains and diarrhea.

My day today,

1. I took my 15yr old son to the Doctor, where they did a test. His results were worse than an elderly person with COPD. Thank you #LongCovid. Thank you #AndersTegnell. Thank you @Folkhalsomynd

>
2. We spoke to relatives in Russia, who claimed Russia was defending itself from attacks by Ukraine and NATO. We then spoke to our mutual, elderly, cousin, in a bomb shelter in Kyiv, expecting to die.

>
3. I spoke to my brother, in Brisbane, Australia. He is surrounded by floodwaters. Some places have had 1 *metre* of rain in a few hours. More rain fell in 2 days than in a usual 4 months. And it rains a lot in Brisbane normally.

Unconfirmed reports from a UA parliamentarian that Poland will let Ukraine fly combat missions from Polish airbase.

If true this sounds very risky as Putin may see it as NATO involvement and retaliate.

But! It may be a very smart move and here's why...

ukraine.segodnya.ua/amp-ukraine/ev…
Right now, Putin is essentially daring NATO to get involved. I suspect he believes they won't because of the risk of nuclear war.

He believes however he will take Ukraine, forcing a surrender once he begins mass bombing civilians ala Grozny, Aleppo and Homs.
>
Today's use of cluster munitions and (reportedly) a thermobaric weapon are warnings... This is what's coming.

I believe however that NATO won't standby if there is mass slaughter of civilians on our doorstep, not to mention millions of refugees

NATO will intervene directly

More than 1yr after my son fell ill from Covid and never fully recovered he finally - after I demanded it - has a diagnosis of "post-covid" and finally - after I demanded them - had appropriate blood tests conducted.

The result? The Dr just called to say we should take him to ER
A year. MORE THAN A FUCKING YEAR.

I'm furious.
And just for context - He turns 16 next week. He lost an entire term of school because he was fatigued. He now only makes 3-4 days/wk (if that). He's had to change his choices for his high school streams.

Secret documents reveal the obvious - Sweden's pandemic strategy has not been to decrease infections as much as possible, but to mitigate to a level where healthcare can cope. Multiple ministers, including the former Prime Minister, Stefan Löfven, have directly lied about this.
Prediction: There will be zero repercussions from this being revealed.
Also worth pointing out, the Swedish Public Health Authority literally had a graph explaining this in virtually every press conference for the first year of the pandemic -

I should stop being shocked by this type of thing by Swedish journalists (and scientists for that matter), but nevertheless I keep getting shocked. An anonymous twitter account created a "excess mortality" graph that purports to show how well Sweden is doing over the pandemic.
There are *huge* problems with the graph, which I may go in to later, but just reflect on the fact that this is simply a graph produced by an anonymous account on twitter. That's it.

And here it's being retweeted by the Chief Editor of Flamman, a major left-wing outlet.
A Swede points out to him that the account that tweeted is apparently known for extreme right-wing disinformation.

@LAretakis response? "Eurostat is extreme right disinformation"? Breathe!" Image
