GP There was never peace in the Democratic coalition.

The Democrats are a loosely affiliated mutual support group of myriad leftist causes many of which are fundamentally incompatible at root.

This leads to internal conflicts which the party managed to paper over for years.
GP Recently, the Democrat political establishment has been unable to keep those internal coalition feuds from erupting into full public view.

Think Progressives' attempt to hold the BIF bill hostage until their multitrillion dollar BBB bill was passed.
GP Think black voters in 2008 giving Obama a more massive than usual victory in CA while simultaneously helping defeat a "legalize gay marriage" ballot initiative.
GP Think Hispanics who generally vote for the Democrats social welfare state but who have abandoned Democrats as the rich white urban and suburban "elites" crippled the middle and lower class economies and created chaos on the border abandoning the party for Trump.
GP It was always a matter of time until Democrats came apart at the seams.

Yet media's spent the last years pretending that the Republicans are the crazy party in decline.

Media is full of shit and wouldn't know reality if it bit them on their collective ass.
GP To be clear, there are batshit crazy Republicans. Republicans have been too eager to kowtow to Trump in exile in Florida. Republicans contributed to our recent profligate spending. Republicans have ignored their constituents in favor of DC cocktail party circuit opinions.
GP But when you compare the two parties, it sure seems to me that the Democrats are the party in grave trouble from their myriad internal rifts.

Republicans ain't exactly healthy, but they're better off than Democrats.
CZ Perhaps it's been this way since the 1860s, but most certainly it's recently apparent that the Dem party centers around "the opposite of what the GOP wants/likes" and little more.

This explains a lot of the disparities, internal conflicts, etc.
CZ They reflexively latch onto positions that exist solely to be oppositional. For example, repubs/cons were against gay marriage, so Dems suddenly supported it even though many/most Dem voters (even Obama and Biden) verbally opposed it originally.
CZ GOP opposed growing Islamism in the 1990s, so Dems embraced Islamic voters even though this betrayed their Jewish base, and courted gay voters despite this enraging their Islamic base, etc...just because the GOP liked/appeared to like a different way.
GP "We are for all Americans to be forced to marry gay Islamists who want to kill every Jewish person they find. Because equity."

GP China, 6 weeks ago: "There are no limits to our friendship with Russia."

China, today: "Holy shit, Vlad! You told us you'd walk into Ukraine as heroes + control the country inside a week! Instead, NATO + Europe are united against you + us + Germany + Japan are rearming!"
GP President Winnie Xi Pooh of China is still likely to hold power and get a third term but I'd bet his hold on *absolute* power in China is slipping.
GorT: I think GP has conflated his plus signs in this part: "Instead, NATO + Europe are united against you + us + Germany + Japan are rearming!"

GorT: but...but...solar...and wind...but but.
CZ We are always 25 years away from useable fusion. No matter what you're reading in the press, folks, in truth we are nowhere near fusion. The figures you see are intentionally misleading.
GorT: Unless you're being snarky, I'll disagree. I think we'll see viable fusion within 20 years.

GP I think part of what drives me nuts about pro sports is that you can no longer be a passive, sometimes fan of any sport without incurring the ire of many so-called journalists who have dedicated their lives to pretending kids' games are worthy of their full time attention.
GP "Oh, you don't know LeBron James PPG average for the last 15 seasons by heart? AND YOU CALL YOURSELF A FAN?"

"Oh, you cannot discuss the intricacies of the infield fly rule and why the manager would change pitchers after one pitch to bring in a leftie to face this batter?"
GP "Oh, you do not have *big opinions* on why the NFL managers are insufficiently woke and why the Chiefs didn't have to change their name and the Redskins did? YOU ARE A HORRIBLE PERSON! GET IN THE SEA!"

GP Czar be all like "Let's talk solar power. It sucks and is selfish."
CZ No, I like solar. It's simple. But it's a non-realistic approach to a serious problem, and most of its supporters seem to view it as a religious issue, not an engineering issue.
CZ And don't get me started on the hidden cost of solar: the panels will outlive your roof, which means you will pay thousands more to have an electrician move them off for your roofers and then reinstall them later.

GP Raisins are the only known substance in the world which will reverse your sexual preference polarity. But your brain stays wired the same.

Enjoy that, GorT.
GorT: Yes, but when eaten with bacon, it nullifies that effect.

Chicken livers exacerbate #TIW.
GP Soda bread with raisins is slow growing, painful, deadly ass cancer.

CZ Let's talk solar power. A 1kW solar panel is 5.25sq meters. A house uses 30kW of power per day. That's 30 solar panels per house, or .04 acres of panels. For a block of 25 homes, that's 1 acre of panels.
CZ For a city block, that's 4 house lots of solar panels just to power the rest of the block. That's just one side of the street.
CZ So those acres of solar panels you see in the desert? Barely powers up a single subdivision. Maybe a single apartment building in a downtown. That's it.
