Our rebellion has spread to Africa and we can count with many rebels there as well. 3/n

Some academics feel that their work is so critically important that they couldn't possibly spare any time for activism

This paper calls bullshit on that argument, for two reasons:
frontiersin.org/articles/10.33…
I) "It takes time for students to reach positions of societal influence and for research to influence policy, so education and research pathways are poorly adapted to an emergency context"
II) "education and research ...are insufficient to catalyse [the required transformation] because they do not address either the processes that most powerfully influence political and policy change, or the forces that are so heavily invested in preventing [it]"

1. A lot of people are angry at #InsulateBritain, but is sitting down in a road worthy of several months in prison?

Why is it that immediately after COP these activists were sent to prison, but not before? The answer is pretty obvious.
2. The state didn’t want climate activists in prison over COP, because it would make them look bad - so they waited.

Separation of police and politics are essential in a democracy, but we clearly don’t have that in the UK.
3. These 9 and the dozens to follow can only be understood as political prisoners in the climate struggle.

IB’s demands are undeniable; the UK government is obliged to insulate homes under their own climate pledges - so why do they refuse?

Myth #3 from COP: Green growth will save us.

Speaker: Dr. Tim Hewlett, astrophysicist and co-founder of Scientist Rebellion. (1/4)

#ScientistRebellion
“In my career I've studied black holes and the evolution of galaxies, but there's little value in learning such things if they are to die with us.” (2/4)
“Scientists can drive real change if we're willing to be honest about the perils we face, the causes, and live like we really believe the science. That means opposing governments and others who are willing to sacrifice everything in order to maintain wealth and power." (3/4)
