Mulraj Solanki founded Solanki dynasty kingdom of Gujarat. He wanted to develop his new kingdom in education, religion & spiritual. In his time Brahmins population was not sufficient in Gujarat. So he invited Brahmins of north India on occasion of opening of Rudramal Shiv temple.
In 10 century Gujarat king Mulraj Solanki invited 1037 Brahmin from north India to settle in Gujarat are known as Udichch-of north Brahmin.Audichya,Kandoli,Harsola,Khadayata,Modh,Shrimali,Zalora,Mevada,Palival & Shrigaud Brahmins came to Gujarat from north India in 961 to 1292 AD
In 997 AD Gujarat 1st Solanki king Mulraj after ruling for 55 years ended his life by entering in fire pyre on Sarswati river bank at Siddhapur. In 997 Chamundraj became 2nd Solanki king of Gujarat after his father Mulraj's retirement. He was brave He ruled Gujarat for 13 years.

Around 1360 AD Siddhpur Audich Brahmin Asait Thakar was outcasted by Brahmins as he dined with lower caste to save a girl. So Asait started Bhavai-a type of folk theatre form as a profession. He is considered beginner/founder of Bhavai-folk theatre in Gujarat.He wrote many plays.
14th century Siddhapur Brahmin Asait is the ancestor of Tragala/Targhala Naiks of Bhavai-folk theatre. He wrote three types of play literature. He wrote 360 Vesh-role/get-up of Bhavai-folk drama. Many of them are still today played in Bhavai-folk theatre.
14th century Siddhpur Brahmin Asait wrote a popular story 'Hansauli' in middle age Gujarati 'Gujar Bhasha' containing the story of 2 princes Hans & Vachchh. Many Gujarati proverbs include the words 'Bhavai', 'Vesh' and its main musical instrument 'Bhumgal' (a long copper pipe).

Ahmedshah who founded Ahmedabad attacked Sidhpur.He looted treasure of famous 12th century Rudramal Shiv temple, destroyed Linga & ruined temple.He built there Masjid in which construction material like bricks,stones & pillars of temple were used. Image

In 1486 AD after defeat & death of Kankavati/Kuva Zala ruler Vaghoji,his state was annexed to Sultnat.His son Rajodharji fled & founded Halvad as his capital in 1488.He invited Sidhpur's Auditchya Sahastra Brahmin to come to Halvad & settled them there.They are Zalavadi Brahmins.
In 1539 AD spiritual head of Shia Ismaili Vhora 24th Dai/Vada Mullaji Yusuf Najamuddin came from Yemen & founded 1st Gadi-seat at Siddhapur. Places of Gadi-seat of Dai-spiritual head of Shia Ismaili Daudi Vora from 1539 AD:- Siddhpur, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Ujjain, Burhanpur,Surat.

Modi word came into the Gujarati language from Hindi & Marathi in middle age. It means grocer. It became surname of Hindu, Muslim & Parsi grocery traders. It is surname of General Class ( Jain Vanik, Hindu Vanik,Lohana,Parsi etc. ) & O.B.C. ( Ghanchi etc.) communities of Gujarat.
Shah is a Persian word one of it meaning is honest & creditworthy. This word was used for the banker, money lender & big trader. It became surname of Jain Vanik and Hindu Vaishnav Vanik during Muslim rule in Gujarat. All Shah are not Jains, they can be Hindu or Muslim by religion
Gandhi means grocer-a dealer in spices & grocery. It is a professional surname in some castes of Hindu, Jain, Muslim & Parsi communities of Gujarat. Mahatma Gandhi was Gujarati Hindu Vaishnav Modh Vanik. He was not Jain Vanik.
