Ancestor of Sultans of Gujarat Sultanate Saharan was a Punjabi Hindu Tank branch Rajput who adopted Islam & married his sister to Delhi & Gujarat Sultan Firozshah Tughluq.Because of Hindu Rajput ancestor,Gujarat Sultanat & Sultans are known as Rajput Sultnat & Rajput Sultans
Saharan who was the ancestor of Sultans of Gujarat Sultnat (1404 AD-1572 AD) was Suryavanshi Tank dynasty Rajput of Punjab.When 14th century Gujarat & Delhi Sultan Firozshah Tughluq was crown prince, he went to Sirhind area of Punjab for hunting & recreation.
Delhi crown prince Firozshah lost direction during hunting & separated from soldiers.He reached Thaneshwar in evening & met Chief Saharan.Suryvanshi Tank Rajput Saharan who was in lineage of Lord Ram took prince Firozshah to home in Thaeshwar where prince stayed for some days.
During dinner under influence of liquor prince Firozshah Tughluq revealed his true identity of Delhi Sultnat crown prince to chief Saharan.Saharan's sister was very beautiful.Delhi prince Firozshah attracted to her. So he proposed to marry her to Saharan who immediately agreed.
Saharan arranged his sister marriage with prince Firozshah at Thaneshwar. After marriage, he & his brother Sadhu went Delhi with their sister. In 14th century Saharan & his brother Sadhu adopted Islam & joined services of Delhi Tughluq Sultnat.Saharan became Sultnat Wazir-ul-Mulk
On 30-6-1342 Zafarkhan born to Wazir-ul-Mulk Saharan.Zafarkhan became Gujarat governor & later independent governor.His son Tatarkhan founded Gujarat Sultnat by acquiring title of Sultan Muhammadshah. Independent Gujarat Sultnat ruled Gujarat for 168 years (1404-1572 AD).

Modi word came into the Gujarati language from Hindi & Marathi in middle age. It means grocer. It became surname of Hindu, Muslim & Parsi grocery traders. It is surname of General Class ( Jain Vanik, Hindu Vanik,Lohana,Parsi etc. ) & O.B.C. ( Ghanchi etc.) communities of Gujarat.
Shah is a Persian word one of it meaning is honest & creditworthy. This word was used for the banker, money lender & big trader. It became surname of Jain Vanik and Hindu Vaishnav Vanik during Muslim rule in Gujarat. All Shah are not Jains, they can be Hindu or Muslim by religion
Gandhi means grocer-a dealer in spices & grocery. It is a professional surname in some castes of Hindu, Jain, Muslim & Parsi communities of Gujarat. Mahatma Gandhi was Gujarati Hindu Vaishnav Modh Vanik. He was not Jain Vanik.

In an old Gujarati commentary book of 1337 AD on 'Ganitsar' book written by Shridharacharya, tables of weights & measurements are given. In 13 century daily earning/wage of common man was 5 Vinshopaks or monthly income was 1.5 Dram. Somnath temple priest salary was 15 Dram p.m.

13th century gold weight table: 8 Sarsav=1 Jav;2 Jav=1 Rati;3 Rati=1 Val;16 Val=1 Gadiyano & 10 Gadiyana=1 Pal. 13th century land measurement table: 6 Jav=1 Angul;24 Angul=1 Hast;4 Hast=1 Dand;2000 Dand=1 Kosh;4 Kosh= 1 Yojan.

In 1295 AD Italian traveller Marco Polo wrote about Gujarat in his travelogue. He passed Gujarat coast in his voyage from China to Persia. Marco Polo wrote,"Gujarati are spread all over world. They are kind,very honest & truth speaking trader.They never lie for anything of world"
13th century Italian traveller Marco Polo wrote,"Gujarati traders are trustworthy & faithful to even foreign traveller.They never cheat foreigner & deal with him honestly.They are very good as an agent to sell foreign traders' goods.They charge reasonable commission/fee in deal".
The13th century world-famous Italian traveller Marco Polo wrote about Gujarati people, "Gujaratis are religious. They are vegetarian & teetotaler. They wear thread (Janoi). They do not make relation with other's women".

Gujarati Vhora Muslims are wealthiest & most prosperous among all Gujarat Muslim communities. Vhora word derived from Vhoravu means to trade.Vhora/Vora are Muslim of Mustali branch of Shia Ismaili Muslims. They have been living in Gujarat since the 11th century. Image
In 1067 AD Dai Abdulla came Khambhat from Haraz Yemen. He was sent here to preach the Ismaili sect by Ismaili head Mullah of Yemen Arabia. In 11 to 13 century many Gujarati upper castes Brahmin, Nagar & Vanik adopted Islam & became Shia Vhora under influence of Mustali preachers.
Vhora/Vora is also the surname of upper castes Brahmin, Nagar & Vanik Hindu communities of Gujarat. Some Shia Ismaili Vhora families came into Gujarat with their Mota Mullaji-spiritual head from Aden in 1539 AD.

74 years ago my father & family came from Karachi to Okha port in such steamer at time of partition in 1947. My father was teacher in Sharada Mandir School of Karachi in 1942 to 1947.After partition our family returned back to Porbandar (Gujarat).

In 1947 after partition of India & Pakistan,migration of Hindu & Muslim population started on both sides.Indian govt decided to settle Sindhi Hindu refugees from Pakistan in Junagadh state as there were many properties of rich & upper middle-class Muslim who migrated to Pakistan.
Govt. decided to settle Sindhi refugees who were arriving at Veraval port from Karachi at Kutiyana, Bantva, Veraval & Junagadh.2 camps were set up with capacity of 20000 persons each at Kutiyana & Bantva.There were many properties of rich NRI Memon Muslim who migrated to Pakistan
