In Gujarat SHAH surname derived from Persian word SHAH as Persian was official language of Gujarat during 454 years of Muslim rule in middle age. SAHU surname in Hindi regions or States derived from Prakrut word SAHU which derived from Sanskrit word SADHU.

In 1295 AD Italian traveller Marco Polo wrote about Gujarat in his travelogue. He passed Gujarat coast in his voyage from China to Persia. Marco Polo wrote,"Gujarati are spread all over world. They are kind,very honest & truth speaking trader.They never lie for anything of world"
13th century Italian traveller Marco Polo wrote,"Gujarati traders are trustworthy & faithful to even foreign traveller.They never cheat foreigner & deal with him honestly.They are very good as an agent to sell foreign traders' goods.They charge reasonable commission/fee in deal".

In 1067 AD Dai Abdulla came Khambhat from Haraz Yemen. He was sent here to preach the Ismaili sect by Ismaili head Mullah of Yemen Arabia. In 11 to 13 century many Gujarati upper castes Brahmin, Nagar & Vanik adopted Islam & became Shia Vhora under influence of Mustali preachers.
Vhora/Vora is also the surname of upper castes Brahmin, Nagar & Vanik Hindu communities of Gujarat. Some Shia Ismaili Vhora families came into Gujarat with their Mota Mullaji-spiritual head from Aden in 1539 AD.

74 years ago my father & family came from Karachi to Okha port in such steamer at time of partition in 1947. My father was teacher in Sharada Mandir School of Karachi in 1942 to 1947.After partition our family returned back to Porbandar (Gujarat).

In 1947 after partition of India & Pakistan,migration of Hindu & Muslim population started on both sides.Indian govt decided to settle Sindhi Hindu refugees from Pakistan in Junagadh state as there were many properties of rich & upper middle-class Muslim who migrated to Pakistan.
Govt. decided to settle Sindhi refugees who were arriving at Veraval port from Karachi at Kutiyana, Bantva, Veraval & Junagadh.2 camps were set up with capacity of 20000 persons each at Kutiyana & Bantva.There were many properties of rich NRI Memon Muslim who migrated to Pakistan

On 2-8-1965 first foundation brick of Gujarat capital, Gandhinagar laid was of Guest House building of Gujarat Electricity Board.10500 acres agriculture land of 2382 farmers & 5000 acres government land of 12 villages were acquired to build new capital city Gandhinagar.
