2/ In the above image (taken during the 21 October 2021 Heritage Foundation meeting) we can see Ginni Thomas and her husband, Supreme Court Associate Justice, Clarence Thomas.
3/ Ginni Thomas' expression is that of a Sincere but suppressed smile.
4/ Note, none of her teeth are showing. Indeed, this lack-of-teeth display is seen during a high percentage of sincere smile displays.
5/ Indeed, the corners of her mouth are even down-turned (indicating, in this specific context, a high degree of suppression), yet this smile is absolutely sincere.
6/ It's important to remind ourselves, that what makes another person smile (indicating joy-happiness) is not necessarily or always the same set of conditions, events, or words, etc., that would make you smile.
These scenarios can be extremely disparate.
7/ Components of a True Smile (Sincere, aka Duchenne Smile) that are seen here:
• Partially closed eyelids
• Concave-up furrows in the lower eyelids
• Elevated cheek muscles
• Mouth smile, significantly suppressed
8/ Another component that is not seen directly, due to this image being published cropped, is the inferred presence of a relaxed (non-contracted) forehead.
9/ Clarence Thomas, is, of course, not smiling.
10/ Note he's exhibiting an Inward Lip Roll (Seen during the suppression of strong emotion). An Inward Lip Roll (ILR) may be seen during the full range of emotion.
11/ Clarence Thomas' jaw is moderately thrusted forward.
We can also see evidence of his jaw muscles clenching on his right cheek area.
Both of these findings signal an adrenaline surge.
12/ His 'mustache area' is tense stretched vertically.
Thomas' nostrils are also flared.
13/ Now look at Thomas' eyes. Only his right eye is partially visible, however, we can see his eyelids are opened significantly wider that normal/baseline.
14/ This cluster of findings indicates that Clarence Thomas was feeling, but trying to suppress, significant Anger in this moment.
15/ It's more than a bit curious that, while her Supreme Court Justice Husband is feeling and suppressing anger, Ginni Thomas is displaying a sincere, but significantly suppressed, smile.

2/ I don't have a date on this image (I believe it's 2018-20), (Please subtweet a date and reliable source if you have one), so we lack specific context. However, this is an outstanding #BodyLanguage teaching example.
3/ Note Vladimir Putin's Index Finger (aka Forefingers) are both retracted. All of the other visible digits on his hands are actively or passively extended.
1/ THREAD: To be clear, Will Smith did not apologize to Chris Rock — and his 'apology' to The Academy and his fellow nominees were insincere. Smith's apology was a combination of a weak pseudo-apology, and multiple outright examples of acts of complete ignoring.
2/ A true apology requires much more. A complete list of the components of a Sincere Apology include:
3/ • A True apology must ALWAYS be given by the person who committed the act in question — never by an attorney, a press secretary, or a manager, or other surrogate personnel.
1/ THREAD: Putin must be defeated in Ukraine otherwise he will attack other countries, including NATO countries. How do we stop him without enforcing a No-fly zone? Supply Ukraine with:
• Every weapon they need
• The Volumes of weapons they need
2/
• Weapon delivery platforms (planes, helicopters, ships, missile launchers, etc)
• Weapons Training of Ukrainian Military
• Implement every single economic sanction possible
3/
• Seize all Russian property outside of Russia.
• All surrounding countries must forbid any flights out of Russia (control their airspace).
2/ I'm sure you remember back in the summer of 2018, over the July 4th Holiday — when Seven U.S. Senators and One Congress Person traveled to Moscow to meet with Russian foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov.
3/ The Seven US Senators were Ron Johnson (R-WI), John Kennedy (R-LA), Richard Shelby (R-AL), Steve Daines (R-MT), John Hoeven (R-ND), John Thune (R-SD), and Jerry Moran (R-KS) — and the one US House member was Kay Granger (R-TX).
1/ THREAD: Having 'Balls' is a colloquial for being brave/having courage. This is, of course, not only physiologically-psycho-socially incorrect — it's misogynistic, patriarchal, as well as a damaging and manipulative. It's a metaphor-myth. #EmotionalIntelligence#BodyLanguage
2/
A. Courage does not originate in the gonads
B. Courage is not gender-centric
C. This " 'Balls' equates to courage" myth plays into the damaging worldview that:
Testosterone = Courage (it doesn't)
and that all courage is physical courage (it's not)
3/ It steers us toward tribal behavior and away from individuality — away from *Moral Courage*. For moral courage requires us to go against the group/tribe/family/company, etc. (i.e., whistle blowers).
2/ This example is such a fundamental confession, that most people figure it out in their early teens or even younger.
3/ i.e., "I don't really like you, but if I did ..."
In large measure, (and in conversational speech in particular) the word "but" often means, "forget everything I just said" or "everything I just said isn't really true".
