Vladimir Kara-Murza has been sentenced to 15 days in jail in Russia, after criticizing Putin's war in interviews w/ US media.

@vkaramurza is a fierce & brilliant pro-democracy advocate, 2-time survivor of Putin's murderous regime & a Washington Post columnist. All give me dread.

@vkaramurza Correction: We don't know yet whether a Russia court has actually sentenced Kara-Murza, just that the law under which he was arrested carries a 15-day sentence. But we can safely assume that a Russian court is likely to rubberstamp the charges.

Putin’s Orwellian lies are as absurd as they are evil. And he tells them with the conviction of a sociopath. Every time he opens his mouth to keep his propaganda lies spinning, he’s just spinning his own grave, providing evidence of his intent to commit & cover up genocide.
Putin tells so many lies, they contradict each other. He claims Bucha was fake w/ staged dead bodies "like in Syria to frame Russia." Then he says, nobody care about 100s of dead bodies left for months in Syria & Afghanistan. Pick a lie, Vova. Fake dead bodies or real dead?
Contrast Putin's sociopathic conviction with Lukashenka's breathy lack of it. The Belarus dictator claims he has license plate numbers of the Englishmen who staged Bucha fake. These fascist clown saw Boris Johnson in Kyiv & have now woven the UK into their pathetic propaganda.🙄

We should talk about Russian atrocities as ongoing since 2014. Russia invaded Ukraine then. War crimes in torture cellars began then. Crimes of aggression include downing civilian airliner MH17. Putin hid behind "separatist" propaganda for years. 2022 war lifted that smokescreen.

😬Oops! Putin's proxy warlord in Donbas gave a military award to a DNR neo-Nazi fighting against Ukraine in Mariupol. His Nazi patch was on video of the ceremony, later cut.

Add to the mountain of evidence of Russia's "deNazification" Nazis & war criminals. committing genocide.
DNR head Pushilin awarded medals to a group of militants "liberating" Mariupol of "Nazis." One award went to Roman Vorobyov, who was wearing a neo-Nazi Odin patch on his arm. Video of the ceremony was posted on telegram, but was later cut to remove the part w/ Vorobyov. Oops.🤷🏻‍♀️ ImageImageImage

Since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2014, Kremlin propaganda has completely perverted the noble striped St. George Cross—symbol of Soviets defeating Nazis in WWII—into a symbol & rallying cry for Putin's criminal war on Ukraine. Wondered about this. Seems Belarus soldiers are also committing war crimes in Ukraine. Witness says the soldiers who shot people in #Bucha were "mostly Russians & Belarusians." He could identify them by their language: "they are easy to recognize by their characteristic dialect."
Chechen warlord Kadyrov's forces were in #Bucha too.

Take the time to listen to this. It’s one story from Mariupol. But tells the whole story of Russia’s war on Ukraine. The merciless brutality, bleak conditions worsening each day. The pain of hunger, fear, family separation. Survival tempered by guilt, uncertainty. And the taken.
1/ I jotted down some notes from the wrenching story of Khrystyna, 28, a mother of 2 children ages 6 & 8 & her family in #Mariupol🇺🇦, in this 🧵
In early March they were completely cut off from all services—power, heat, water, cell. Then a plane dropped a bomb right next door.
2/ Suddenly 3 homes were gone next door. Neighbors ran out, found the body of 11yo girl & her grandfather. Khrystyna's windows shattered too, so her family moved to hallway of their building, where they think it's safer. They're now too afraid to go outside in #Mariupol.
