Charmaine Yoest is gaslighting hard on @CNN. She doesn't believe public opinion supports Roe. "They didn't ask the right question."🤨

These "Pro-life" propagandists disregard & distort facts b/c their views are religious beliefs—by definition not open to reason. Why debate them? Image @CNN @FWhitfield "Pro-life" spox showing up on @CNN are propagandists who have honed their disinformation & delivery for years. 🔥🔥Reading Luttig's statement & I'm so grateful he doesn't tiptoe around the crisis. The conservative judge says #Jan6 was a battle in Trump & GOP's ongoing war on democracy & America. He uses "war" 21x on just p1 ! He says they lied knowingly, to cling to power. #Jan6thHearings Image Luttig: A stake was driven through the heart of American democracy on January 6, 2021, & our democracy today is on a knife’s edge.

America was at war on that fateful day, but not against a foreign power. She was at war against herself. We Americans were at war with each other…

Watching President @ZelenskyyUa address @FSIStanford right now. He's talking about a special room in Kyiv used to greet visiting heads of state, now used to honor the heroes who have given their lives to defend #Ukraine's freedom & independence on day 93 of Russia's (8 year) war. Image @ZelenskyyUa @FSIStanford Pres Zelensky expressed condolences for Uvalde killing, saying it's hard to understand how 18-year-old boys can kill & commit atrocities against innocent people & children. He said 18yo Russian soldiers have been committing incomprehensible slaughter in #Ukraine for 3 months now. Image

‼️OMG 14 elementary school students—children— and 1 teacher are dead after a mass shooting by an 19yo gunman in Texas.

Damn you @GovAbbott and every Republican who with the gun lobby have perverted our laws & society into this daily hellscape of massacres, trauma and grief. @GovAbbott The 18yo (or 19yo) gunman is dead. He drove to Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, and killed 14 children & 1 teacher with 2 guns. Kids were 2nd, 3rd, 4th graders.

It's an 80% Hispanic school district, with large immigrant community. So could be a Buffalo style hate crime. Image

🔥There you have it—from an insider. Putin's war in Ukraine isn't about restoring Soviet or Russian glory. That's all instrumental to KLEPTOCRACY.

I don't know who's more grandiose—Putin w/ his propaganda or the West so eager to believe ideology drives Russia's murderous regime. #Russian diplomat Bondarev resigns over #Ukraine, says the war is ONLY about #Putin's #kleptocracy staying in power:

"Those who conceived this war want only one thing—to remain in power forever, live in…palaces, sail on yachts…, enjoying unlimited power and complete impunity."

🤨Lavrov: We don't demand Zelensky surrender, just release civilians & end resistance. Our aim isn't regime change—that's US specialty. We only want ppl in eastern Ukraine not to be threatened by Kyiv's military & its Nazis. And we don't want Ukraine to threaten Russian security. Oh, there's more >> Lavrov Compares Ukraine's Zelensky to Hitler, Who Also 'Had Jewish Blood'

For a regime founded and sustained by insane propaganda, Putin's Russia is so bad at it.

❗️Incredible report from @edlavaCNN. Russian soldiers rounded up villagers at gunpoint into a school basement. 350 ppl forced to live in such horrific conditions, 12 elderly died. Russians held them there for a month—as human shields—knowing Ukrainians wouldn't attack the school. Sofia took @CNN into the school basement where she was held hostage for a month by Russian soldiers with 350 other Ukrainian villagers. Conditions were so cramped, air so stifling, breathing was hard. She said the Russians told her point blank that they were taken there to die.

Trump just can’t condemn Putin. Even now, as the murderer is awash in Ukrainian blood. Fox gave Trump another opportunity y’day to say Putin is evil. But Trump went off on NATO & the EU instead. His allegiance to Putin never changes. If his GOP gets back in power, we’re doomed. Great piece by @jonathanchait. But I'd go further: Given Trump's continued allegiance to Putin, and the Republican Party's allegiance to Trump, there's no question that Ukraine and the rest of the free world would be in grave danger with the GOP in power.

Putin’s Orwellian lies are as absurd as they are evil. And he tells them with the conviction of a sociopath. Every time he opens his mouth to keep his propaganda lies spinning, he’s just spinning his own grave, providing evidence of his intent to commit & cover up genocide. Putin tells so many lies, they contradict each other. He claims Bucha was fake w/ staged dead bodies "like in Syria to frame Russia." Then he says, nobody care about 100s of dead bodies left for months in Syria & Afghanistan. Pick a lie, Vova. Fake dead bodies or real dead?

Vladimir Kara-Murza has been sentenced to 15 days in jail in Russia, after criticizing Putin's war in interviews w/ US media.

@vkaramurza is a fierce & brilliant pro-democracy advocate, 2-time survivor of Putin's murderous regime & a Washington Post columnist. All give me dread. @vkaramurza Russian police report says Vladimir Kara-Murza was arrested for disobeying police & resisting arrest. It cites Russian law that mandates police arrest who look suspicious like they're committing crimes. And cites his walking quickly & trying to hide from police as suspicious.🤨😒 Image

We should talk about Russian atrocities as ongoing since 2014. Russia invaded Ukraine then. War crimes in torture cellars began then. Crimes of aggression include downing civilian airliner MH17. Putin hid behind "separatist" propaganda for years. 2022 war lifted that smokescreen. 2021 UN Report: “egregious violations of torture… documented in the ‘Izoliatsiia’ facility in Donetsk… other places of detention…continue on a daily basis… carried out systematically in breakaway eastern regions of Donetsk & Luhansk…began in 2014. voanews.com/a/europe_un-re…

😬Oops! Putin's proxy warlord in Donbas gave a military award to a DNR neo-Nazi fighting against Ukraine in Mariupol. His Nazi patch was on video of the ceremony, later cut.

Add to the mountain of evidence of Russia's "deNazification" Nazis & war criminals. committing genocide. DNR head Pushilin awarded medals to a group of militants "liberating" Mariupol of "Nazis." One award went to Roman Vorobyov, who was wearing a neo-Nazi Odin patch on his arm. Video of the ceremony was posted on telegram, but was later cut to remove the part w/ Vorobyov. ❗️"They shot them either in the back of the head or in the heart."—Witness in #Bucha says Russians forced ppl sheltering onto their knees, searched, robbed them. Then shot the veterans of Donbas war (who fought Russia's 2014 invasion & occupation) & anyone w/ Ukraine coat of arms Wondered about this. Seems Belarus soldiers are also committing war crimes in Ukraine. Witness says the soldiers who shot people in #Bucha were "mostly Russians & Belarusians." He could identify them by their language: "they are easy to recognize by their characteristic dialect."

NATO Chief @jensstoltenberg: It is a brutality against civilians we haven't seen in Europe for decades. It's horrific & absolutely unacceptable to target & kill civilians.… I strongly welcome the investigation by International Criminal Court.

Take the time to listen to this. It’s one story from Mariupol. But tells the whole story of Russia’s war on Ukraine. The merciless brutality, bleak conditions worsening each day. The pain of hunger, fear, family separation. Survival tempered by guilt, uncertainty. And the taken. 1/ I jotted down some notes from the wrenching story of Khrystyna, 28, a mother of 2 children ages 6 & 8 & her family in #Mariupol🇺🇦, in this 🧵
In early March they were completely cut off from all services—power, heat, water, cell. Then a plane dropped a bomb right next door.
