This is the first Eid homage to the President in 3 years; the last one took place on June 4, 2019. (And then Covid happened). #AsoVillaToday
PMB speaking now at Eid Homage: “There is no denying the fact that Nigeria is facing security challenges, but we are strenuously tackling this monster.” #AsoVillaToday
You’ll never find the President or VP or anyone in @NigeriaGov suggesting APC has made Nigeria perfect, or that country still doesn’t have MANY challenges. What you’ll instead find is strong arguments for how the challenges are being tackled, and what is changing for the better.
Arguments like the following:
Building one of the largest Social Investment programmes in the world, because any country that seeks to truly develop must have a functioning social safety net. Hence efforts like @growthplat_me and @npower_ng etc.
Still on gas, Nigeria building its largest domestic pipeline system ever, the $2.8B, 614km Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano pipeline. Will form part of Trans Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP). Primary EPC Contractor is Oilserv Limited, whose Chairman, Emeka Okwuosa is from Anambra State. #Thread
My colleague @AjuriNgelale has produced a fantastic report on the #AKKGasPipeline project. It showed tonight on @channelstv, and you can find on YouTube here:
"When Pres. Buhari came to power in 2015, he made domestic gas infra devpt a cardinal project. This project has been on drawing board since 2008,2009. He made it happen. What this project shows clearly is the dedication of PMB to local content & capacity." vanguardngr.com/2020/07/how-aj…
I’ll try & get update soon on how far they’ve gone with implementation.
“The National Vehicle Registry is the centralized database for all vehicles in Nigeria using their unique Vehicle Identification Nos (VIN). This registry stores detailed vehicular information such as specifications, ownership & history of each vehicle in Nigeria.”—@FinMinNigeria
“Why do we need VREG?
@FinMinNigeria created VREG as a solution to the menaces of customs duty evasion, vehicle theft, vehicle-related crimes, ineffective vehicle insurance coverage, among others owing to the absence of a centralized nationwide vehicular information system.”
Nigeria (@NNPCgroup) and Morocco (#ONHYM) are teaming together to build the longest offshore pipeline in the world and second longest pipeline in the world.
It will carry gas from Nigeria to Morocco (& Europe), running across 11 West African countries.
The Agreement for the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline (NMGP) was originally signed by the two countries when President @MBuhari paid a State Visit to Morocco in June 2018.
Remember that Visit that birthed this famous photo? (See #PMBinMorocco for details).
“26 April 2022: We've been awarded a contract to provide main front-end engineering design (FEED Phase II) services for the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline (NMGP) project. The engineering study is progressing in accordance with the initial project planning.” — @Worley_ECR
Facility management is the bane of Nigerian Infrastructure, right?
Good news is things are changing. For example the new National Theatre Complex will have a dedicated (private) facility manager. Facility Mgt agreement already signed by @FMICNigeria/@cenbank /BankersCtte #Thread
.@NigeriaGov now has facility management contracts in 24 Federal Secretariat complexes across the country. According to @FMWHNIG, each facility manager employs no fewer than 40 people.
Also, @NigeriaGov has established a new Department, to oversee “Federal Public Assets Management”, at @FMWHNIG. (See No. 9 below)
