A short thread🧵 on why #NoToSelfID is important right now. @scotgov want to reform the Gender Recognition Act #GRA & remove the need for a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria. To a process where people can self declare the gender they wish to live as This is Self ID /1 Image
Self-ID allows individuals to declare themselves to be something they are not. They use the word ‘gender’, which is not adequately defined for individuals to declare whether they are a man or a woman and a boy or a girl /2
Implications for women & girls are:

👉Self ID allows any man to say he's a woman & be treated on a female hospital ward

👉Self ID allows any man to say he's a woman & play in women's sports

👉Self ID allows any man to say he's a woman & enter a rape crisis centre

NO! to Self-ID - short🧵

WRN opposes Self-ID in Scotland.

If it succeeds, it will mean Self-ID throughout the UK by extension.

BUT WE CAN STOP IT.

For the Bill to become law, Scottish Ministers have to ask the UK Government to grant permission that a Scottish GRC is recognised outside of Scotland.

The UK Government can refuse this.

Tell the Government they must say NO! to Self-ID.

Exhibit B:
Karen White (previously known as David Thompson & Stephen Wood) already had a conviction for indecent assault & gross indecency with a child when remanded to New Hall women’s prison. White does not have a GRC

Within days of arriving at New Hall, White attacked a female prisoner. White was later found guilty of sexually assaulting 2 inmates while on remand, in addition to 2 further rapes carried out before imprisonment

During White’s trial the prosecutor said White used “a transgender persona to put herself in contact with vulnerable persons she can then abuse”. Reference was also made to White’s erect penis “sticking out of the top of her pants”

What we have learnt from Emma Barnett's interview with Nancy Kelley is that she contradicts her own views and beliefs constantly and her thinking is completely inconsistent.

This is what Nancy had to say:
On impartiality:

Nancy: the BBC needs to be impartial on all issues. Particularly news. But being part of Workplace policy doesn't have a real affect on impartiality.

Also Nancy: We would love to have more influence on how the BBC covers LGBTQ
More on impartiality:

Nancy: We support people on inclusion and in a completely separate team we engage with officials and politicians.

Also Nancy: we want progressive change. That is what we do
