The Delhi High Court is hearing a petition demanding changes in the scene in the upcoming @RanveerOfficial starrer Jayeshbhai Jordaar.
The scene relates to a woman being taken to an ultrasound clinic for sex determination. #DelhiHighCourt#RanveerSingh#JayeshbhaiJordaar
After watching the trailer of the movie, a division bench of Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Navin Chawla remarked that there was nothing to show that act is a crime under the law. #DelhiHighCourt#RanveerSingh#JayeshbhaiJordaar
The court said that an act like pre-natal sex-determination cannot be trivialised.
"From the trailer it appears that the family takes the woman to the clinic and they come out as if there is no fetter," J Sanghi.
J Chawla: The movie may go on to give a good message but for this scene there is no such message. There is no disclaimer on this either.
The court has now said that unless it sees the scene in question for itself, it will not allow its released.
The bench has now asked the counsel appearing for the movie producers to show the court the relevant scene. #DelhiHighCourt#RanveerSingh#JayeshbhaiJordaar
"You take instructions. We will have to see or we will have to stay. You come back. Unless we see for ourselves we will not permit this. We will take it up after lunch," J Sanghi. #DelhiHighCourt#RanveerSingh#JayeshbhaiJordaar
As the counsel appearing for the producers pointed out that there is a disclaimer in the scene that sex-determination is a crime, the bench said that the disclaimer was barely visible or legible. #DelhiHighCourt#RanveerSingh#JayeshbhaiJordaar
Bench is not assembling in the post lunch session. Court master asks the counsel to submit the relevant part of the movie with the court by tomorrow. #DelhiHighCourt#RanveerSingh#JayeshbhaiJordaar
Counsel: We will get the entire movie and take the judges to the relevant part. The file will be encrypted but we will get the entire thing.
Hearing to continue tomorrow. #DelhiHighCourt#RanveerSingh#JayeshbhaiJordaar
