1/ Let this infographic I put together sink in & discomfort us all to do something! With a total of 26,069,908 students (pre-primary to college), the chronic issue of access to quality education with a severe lack of essential infrastructure in place is very concerning! #Ethiopia
2/ This infographic doesn’t even include the very concerning data (I don’t have the figures) of dropouts at different education levels due to economic, hunger, conflict, and other reasons.
3/ Also, the teacher-to-students ratio is very alarming (pre-primary – 1:102; primary (1-8) – 1:36; secondary – 1:27; higher education – 1:32). In addition, the rate of licensed/credentialed teachers and school leaders is very low.
4/ With half the pop of teenagers (under 19) & the literacy rate at 51.8%, education is one of the most important areas we all should focus as a nation! The future of #Ethiopia lies on the next gen who can have access to a quality & equitable education! #NationBuilding@fdremoe

1/ A reflection about @timnitGebru's recent commenc. speech at @UCBerkeley! I've known her for 5 years now. My 1st encounter was when we met to feature her as a guest on my TV show. Our convo was great. I've a respect for her. She is someone with a solid academic/prof credential
2/ She is fighting to create an equitable digital future by ensuring AI won’t go astray. When our sisters didn’t have someone to look up to who looks/speaks like them, I was happy to have @timnitGebru on my show. I'll always be open for her to come inspire the next gen in #STEM.
3/ Her journey has been inspiring & the equity of black women in STEM was/is so important to me that I also featured her in the book that I've authored & published in 2018 so that many could follow in her footsteps. I also defended her publicly during her departure from Google.
There is no IFs & BUTs! Eleni (PhD) crossed a red line & there is no coming back from it. A lot can be said about her ‘explanation’ (sorry a blanket denial) to what she stated about #Ethiopia with a video evidence caught redhanded, but will focus of few key points — #NoMore (1/4)
HER WORDS IN THE VIDEO: “what is the extent of the post-transition marshal plan required to bring Ethio back to even where it was 3 years ago?”
HER DENIAL STATEMENT: “I don’t endorse the est. of a transitional gov, I asked…a hypothetical post-conflict situation.” #NoMore (2/4)
HER WORDS IN THE VIDEO: “Frightening how quickly the 'unitarist' persp. took on hold. We’ve to do smth about it.”
HER DENIAL STATEMENT: “Condemn any illicit actions that undermine the sovereign elected gov of Ethio & don’t support an unconstitutional change of gov” #NoMore (3/4)
(1/7) I took this picture last week when I was in #Addis. As a person who was born & grew up there, it brought a lot of childhood memories. Played soccer with friends, ran in the morning & rode a bike. The several festivities I attended there is a memory that'll stay with me.
(2/7)Saddens me to see how this landmark isn't maintained well. The mud steps, lack of green space, trees, fountains & lighting makes it substandard for a city square. Had a chance to see many squares in cities around the world & I always desire to see Meskel Sq. with a better look
(3/7) Was thinking about we the people doing a face-lift if getting permission from the respective officials. We can make Meskel Sq. look beautiful by replacing the mud steps with stone (a standard used in city squares), build a fountain, create a green space & stand lighting.
