Following the escape of former president of #Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani and reports of him taking millions of $ with himself, the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (#SIGAR), stated that Ghani left the country with less than $1 million. (1/6) Image
The report says that “evidence indicates that this number did not exceed $1 million and may have been closer in value to $500,000”, of which most of the money, is believed to be government operating budgets managed at the palace. (2/6)
According to the report, a suitcase belonging to General Qaher Kochai, chief of PPS carried the monthly discretionary cash budget for the PPS around $200,000 and another backpack from Rafi Fazli, Deputy National Security Advisor contained $240,000, retrieved from the (3/6)
monthly discretionary cash budget for the National Security Council.

“Everyone had $5,000 to $10,000 in their pockets…No one had millions”, SIGAR added quoting a former senior official on the helicopter. (4/6)
“If true, this puts the total amount of cash on board the three helicopters at approximately $500,000, with $440,000 belonging to the Afghan government”, SIGAR concluded in its report. (5/6)
In addition to this, the report indicates that the money belonging to the NDS believed to be tens of millions of $, used for funding anti-Tlbn militias and bribe local power brokers disappeared “by the time the #Taliban arrived … only a small reserve of Afghanis remained." (6/6)

The #Taliban Deputy PM Abdul Salam Hanafi speaking in a press conference said that People should use Afghan currency in their daily transactions and smuggling dollars abroad is a crime. Image
He also said that #Uzbekistan wants to fund the Afghan section of the #TAPI project. He added the economic situation will improve and foreign countries are interested in investing in Afghanistan.
According to Hanafi the Taliban are trying to build an army and would recruit former government soldiers. He said that a large number of specialists from the former government are currently working with the Taliban.
