"He regarded women and men as naturally and essentially different in complimentary ways that lead to reproduction, and believed anyone who did not fit the stereotypes of their gender such as inverts should be removed from the reproductive stream."
sex realism = eugenics
You can't be an ally to Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual people if you are a "sex realist" it's indivisible with pathologization of homosexuality as mental illness
Eugenics is invested in controlling reproduction and it does this by focusing on differences to dehumanize
Concerns about gender-affirming care is explicitly concern about controlling reproduction; they fear-monger specifically about people becoming sterilized
It's always white supremacists who want more white babies most invested; whether it's "sex" or "race" realism #Eugenics
This isn't particularly new in Feminism
TERFs didn't make up "sex realism" it fits snugly in the tradition of white supremacist imperial colonialism eugenicsarchive.ca/discover/conne…
I like feminism that's critical of this history and aware of how it's been used and continues to be used for white supremacy, to be clear
I'm not explicitly anti-feminist but also not willing to ignore or excuse the evils of white feminism
I can only assume the change in language is tied to a change in strategy
At this point they have enough support for their ideas they can just market them freely without needing to dogwhistle; emboldened by their arguments being featured on some of the largest platforms
[The term “trans” derives from the earlier term “invert,” used to describe anyone who would now identify as gay, lesbian, trans, or otherwise queer. In Psychopathia Sexualis, Richard von Krafft-Ebing developed the first taxonomical system of inversion.] eugenicsarchive.ca/discover/conne…
"Havelock Ellis famously naturalized Krafft-Ebing’s psychiatric category of inversion. Ellis was a eugenicist"
"Ellis’s naturalistic account of inversion eventually led to the creation of the terms “transvestite” by Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld and “transsexual” by Dr. Harry Benjamin"
"One of the consistent facets of eugenics over time and place has been an interest in regulating sexual behavior, sexual orientation, and gender expression. Indeed, this is one area in which the insidious quest of normalization associated with eugenics movement is very evident."
"Ellis concurred with the notion that there was a system of racial hierarchies, and that non-western cultures were considered to be "lower races". ... he used the prevalence of homosexuality in these 'lower races' to indicate the universality of the behavior."
Now even those who truly cared have been worn down by the current of popular culture telling them they are to be mocked in public, to be othered for their desire to protect people from harm
I searched for ABA content on Twitter for a couple years and this analysis lines up pretty well with what I’ve seen.
The positive and neutral content on ABA flounders because those accounts aren’t actually interacting with anyone they are just non-profit employees filling quotas
"By 1948, euthanasia doctors and nurses began to receive reduced sentences and acquittals as they became viewed as subjective accomplices of the Nazi state rather than perpetrators and murderers. In other words, the courts and society did not see them as evil to the core."
"On top of clemency for those tried in court, most doctors and nurses involved in euthanasia continued to work in the medical profession without even being barred from practice."
"In fact, as perpetrators (of involuntary euthanasia) were continuously acquitted and retained their status, disabled individuals continued to be stigmatized through persistent eugenic thinking and lack of reparations."
You can't both suggest that Minister Lametti understands #MAID and also that isn't a valid response to suicidal ideation (at least under "certain conditions")
He's the one who tabled the amendments we are discussing
