The darkest period of India’s history post 1947 was endured for 21 months beginning this day in 1975. The fascist tendencies in the @INCIndia led by the then PM Smt. Indira Gandhi unleashed rule of terror by putting the entire opposition in prison. #Emergency1975

2/The fascist tendencies of the @INCIndia continued into 21 century.

Instead of working to get justice for karsevaks burnt alive (women & children, in particular)in #Godhra, these tendencies supported non-state actors to file concocted cases against the then Guj CM @narendramodi

3/ Multiple cases in various courts were filed. For over 16 years relentlessly pursued with the zeal of well funded #NGOs

#SupremeCourt on this matter in a related case y’day observed,“a coalesced effort of the disgruntled officials of the State of Gujarat along with others…”

4/ The #SC held that “We find force in the argument of Gujarat that the testimony of Sanjiv Bhatt, Haren Pandya and also of R.B. Sreekumar was only to sensationalise and politicise the matters in issue, although, replete with falsehood.”

5/ On @sanjivbhatt ‘s claim the #SC observed, “…persons not privy to the meeting where utterances were allegedly made by @narendramodi , falsely claimed themselves to be eye-witnesses and after thorough investigation by SIT, it has become clear that it is false.” #GujaratRiots

6/ Media reports of that period show how these “disgruntled officials” were actively supported by the then Delhi Durbar.
These “disgruntled officials” served as poster boys who received all kinds of support from the corridors of power in Delhi, then.

7/ The #SupremeCourt on the protest petition filed by Zakia Jafri against closure report of the SIT said, “She was obviously doing so under dictation of someone.”

8/ As someone who had a ringside view of all these, it is just timely that Home Minister @AmitShah speaks openly in this interview with the @ANI

9/The then Guj CM @narendramodi faced the SIT which lasted 9 hours.

In his autobiography, RK Raghavan, chief of SC appointed SIT says, the CM “kept his cool…never parried questions…”

@PMOIndia @narendramodi is a leader who respects rule of law & leads by being an example.
