UCP leadership candidate & fmr FinMin @TravisToewsUCP told a “Free AB Strategy” (?) mtg he supports a provincial police force and admitted it will cost Albertans more.

At least $200million more.

Add this to the Toews Tire Fire of $1.3 billion blown on his pathetic negotiation skills on Keystone XL and his total failure to protect ABs against obvious risks.

Toews is also responsible for putting a 4% wage rollback on the table for nurses, chasing them out of the profession during a pandemic, and digging a bigger hole in health care.

But he’s got a blank cheque for Firewall Fever Dreams like a provincial police force. #ableg

Alberta is in significant surplus position due to the spike in oil prices, mostly caused by Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine.

UCP candidates are taking that fiscal room as permission to indulge misguided culture wars and grievance politics. #ableg

Far from a meaningless “Free Alberta Strategy,” Albertans would prefer an “Affordable Alberta Strategy,” but Toews is uninterested in that.

He’d rather waste hundreds of millions and piss off municipalities on this silly prov police force idea. #ableg

Some UCP MLAs have endorsed Toews because they think he’s a more temperate version of @jkenney but will continue his approach to governing, which they regard as positive despite all evidence to the contrary.

They, too, don’t care if we squander the provincial Treasury. #ableg
